Thread: Kingdom of Ikana

    Default Kingdom of Ikana

Is there a correct way to use them? I got myself established enough as a kingdom that I have a single standing army, but when my units all die, they don't come back through the fissure. So Ikana right now feels like any other faction, except less in number. So am I doing something wrong or this is just another feature not in the mod yet?

I have a feeling this is yet another case of 'not quite implemented yet'... I'd never got Ikanians to play as indicated, at least...

However, questions like these could go in the 'questions and answers' thread, the 'faction: Ikana' thread or anywhere in our Bugs subforum. Not saying people shouldn't ask questions or anything, but we do have 19 pages of threads in this here main section and 17 1/2 of them are the cluttered husks of short-lived debates...

Kingdom of Ikana doesn't work very well. Was it really necessary to start another thread?

Maybe someone should add (ask here before starting a new thread) or something like that to the tittle of the Questions and answers thread, may help a little.

But well. these things happens. This probably should be closed anyway since the question is answered and there isnīt much more to say about it.

They should just sticky the Q & A thread. There is going to be people that ask questions without looking around too hard so might as well make it easily visible.

I looked for info on Ikana on the hyrule wiki as well as the development thread and I looked at every thread within a few pages of the forum for Ikana info. But, none points out what I'm looking for. So I used enough time to look for answers before I asked you all with this thread.

You still could have just posted in the Questions and Answers thread. Saves space.

You know guys, there's a whole lot of "Don't post here," and not a lot of "Here is a reply to your question."

I love you sir. You actually read my mind from a thousand miles away. I didn't want to voice that out of fear of starting more backlash.

Not referring to you. Judging from your rep I think you know very well how to navigate the site and find what you're looking for. I meant in general since there seems to be threads every now and then on simple questions that are easy to find. The Ikana script not working is one of the least questioned ones(it's usually stalfos or wizzrobes that get the attention)
The rep has nothing to do with my experience on these forums. You can easily find out how I gained my rep and notice I gained through video advertisement threads or through some witty response, but that doesn't prove I kow my way around these forums. I google crap like everyone else.

The answer was provided, though it's not necessarily helpful:

My understanding is that a good number of factions use special scripts that are rather alien to any other M2:TW mod that has come before, and either don't work very well or don't work yet.

I think the "historical" battles in the game are more important to Nephalim's vision than the freeform campaign.

To hopefully provide a definite answer if there has not been one already, the Ikana feature of coming back through the fissures is not yet implemented in the 3.5 series. While I have not delved into the "April Beta" in depth in regards to Ikana's fissure mechanic, a quick glance over the campaign_script.txt seems to indicate that it is not yet fully implemented there either.

I did create the HTW Quick Questions and Answers thread (and the Installation Guide) as an initiative to slow down or stop newly-created, short-lived topics on the main subforum that push down detailed threads that can benefit from discussion. I've only been around for a few months, but running across topics that ask questions seemingly answered elsewhere can become irritating.

Maybe I need to work on a FAQ too...

Backlash? Did anyone on this thread actually say something rude, or mean, or angry?

We simply said that you shouldn't make new threads for little things like this that can easily be answered on the "Quick questions and answers thread". It just adds clutter.

I'll just ask the mod to remove the thread then, since it's taking up a molecule of space. Hyrule is a top notch mod but it's community are uninviting for newcomers.

Uninviting to newcomers? Now you are just making stupid claims because you don't like it when we ask you not to post unnecessary threads. Their really is no need to get all defensive.

Adding clutter is not in reference to how much space this takes up on the TWC server. I said it adds clutter because it is one more unnecessary thread on this forum on the viewing area. It isn't a huge deal, it is just redundant.

On the Hyrule total war forum their are no mods that moderate the forum. On most big mod forum such as the third age forum they will lock or move your thread if it is redundant or in the wrong area. How does that make them unwelcoming to new comers? Why did you make that claim?

I suspect what he means by 'uninviting to newcomers' is that you, I, Aletorio and Encablossa responded with 'you shouldn't post that here' as opposed to 'this is what's happened with Ikana not working'. Responding in the way you just did, I can see why he might think so.

    @Point_Man
You'll have to excuse us, a vast number of the discussions in this here HTW forum rapidly take tangents and pursue them beyond the point of what is reasonable (it's fun!). What appears to have happened is that your brand new thread on Ikana was hijacked by people weighing in on the number of redundant threads kicking about...

I understand why he can fell that way, but none of us intended to be unwelcoming or rude.

The fact is, that there isnīt much to say about Ikana not working to begin with. Even SirkMarkīs post which was the most specific answer practically says "not a working feature yet".

I guess that kind of pointed thread in the slighty less redundant topic of "there is a lot of redundant topics" but itīs not like we are blaming him for the whole problem or disrespecting him.

In fact post like this from encablosa
They should just sticky the Q & A thread. There is going to be people that ask questions without looking around too hard so might as well make it easily visible.

Taking advantage that this thread was created, I will ask a question [It could have been asked in the Q & A thread, but anyway...]. What are the details about that unimplemented feature[the Ikana and their fissure thing]? I mean, Does it work like: Play as Ikana, get some units, then get these units killed in battle and then these units will respawn in the Fissure?, if it were implemented: Do recruited units counts? Does it apply for the AI? more specific details?
Are there other features that they donīt have yet?
