    Default All the shields placed in the variantmeshdefinition file not showing

    Hi, I placed some new shields in my mod and when I play the game they are only showing those new shields. This is how the variantmesh looks like in that part:

    <SLOT name="shield" attach_point="weapon_03" >
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_spartan_grey.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_spartan_red2.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_spartan_peri.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_spartan_black2.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_spartan_red3.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_spartan_unpainted2.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_circular.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_sun.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_painted_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/shield/hellenic_hoplon_hoplite.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    </SLOT>

    I'm having a similar problem, I've been trying to edit variant mesh files for some units inDEI and the first on I changed actually shows the changes in game but all the other look like they did before, despite their files being changed.

    is there a limit of lines written in every section of the file now or something?

    There's a limit of 5 meshes/mesh references per slot. So only the first 5 listed under shield there will be shown.

    ok thx, I wasn't aware of that change, so how can we make some meshes more likely to appear than others? using the probability command at the end of the line?

    @jack on the off chance that you come back and check this thread and read this question:

    If you add 5 vmds each with 5 shield vmds to the unit will it allow 25 different shields? or is it just the first shield from each vmd? making still only a variation of 5?

    That will allow for 25 as each loaded vmd will be considered new slots. I'd advise at keeping the numbers of variations loaded as low as you can as it has a big impact on performance, hence why we've gone for the limit of 5 per slot.

    I've been doing this with my units. It's tedious, but works. I didn't have to do this when the game first came out though, the 5 vmd limit was released in a patch (was it patch 5? Can't remember).
