CA had been clear on that : They will not support previous games, even the previous Assembly Kit for TW:S2. They will only focus on the last title, TW:R2.
Steph and I were hoping that CA might provide some minimal tech support and advice for our mod work with NTW. Do you think there's a remote chance CA might consider a reasonable request

No one, they have been very clear about this.
It's like trying to break a taboo when trying to speak about older game with them... discussion is immediately stopped. Even when about TW:S2 and its Assembly Kit. Jack Lusted will finally not send us some more models for this game to help us to understand how to place guns and some other missing points.

I can not say that I'm happy with this... Angry would be a better term.

51,000 play Civ5, barely 15,000 for Rome2, that says alot about Rome2. mods aren't helping either because it needs major surgery which isn't allowed. patient will die .. but then a new game will spring from ashes, spun and promoted to bewilder all.

You can't fix Rome II with modding. The system has no real menu like the previous versions. Armies stick to one general. Soldiers have been replaced by cartoons. Etc. etc. biggest problem the choises made in the hardcoded programming. I think the makers will be to stubborn to return to the decent concept of the earlier games. Stupidities like capturing a flag convinced me that the designers will never listen and lack brains.

Capture flag has been in all Total War games since siege battle was introduced with Medieval 1. Rome 2 actually disable that which funnily they disable when it needed most, which is during land + siege battle.

For me, this is how the games have progressed for me. Rough estimates off the top of my head are like this:

    Shogun - 7/10
    Medieval - 7/10
    Rome - 10/10
    Medieval 2 - 9/10
    Empire - 4/10
Napoleon - Not interested, never played.
    Shogun 2 - 8/10
    Rome 2 - 5/10

There is no reason that the next game couldn't be great. The series will only be "dead" if they release 2 or 3 sub par games in a row.
