Well it will only be for the tutorial campaign by the looks of it, so it will only be a shortplay as them.

In that case you should have said the SICILIAN Normans....and by that logic the English would be Normans as well becasue the main campaign starts in 1080.
"Can you believe it, Ariadne?" said Theseus, wiping the blood from his sword. "The Minotaur barely defended itself."

Yep, the Sicilians represent the Italo-Normans.

Im glad CA left them in and I hope modders will do them justice. The Norman reconquest of Sicily (from the Muslims) was one of the key events that led up to the First Crusade, which was a largely Norman-Frankish affair.

They start with Sicily and Naples.

Some history, straight out of the Wiki:

The Italo-Normans, or Siculo-Normans when referring to Sicily, were the Italian-born descendants of the first Norman conquerors to travel to the Mezzogiorno in the first half of the eleventh century. While maintaing much of their distinctly Norman piety and customs of war, they were shaped by the diversity of southern Italy, by the cultures and customs of the Greeks, Lombards, and Arabs.

Normans first arrived in Italy as pilgrims probably either on their way or returning from Jerusalem or visiting the shrine at Monte Gargano in the late tenth and early eleventh century. In 1017, the Lombard lords in Apulia recruited their assistance against the dwindling power of the Byzantine Catapanate of Italy. They soon established vassal states of their own[1] and began to expand their conquests until they were encroaching on the Lombard principalities of Benevento and Capua, Saracen controlled territories, and territory under papal allegiance, as well as Greek. They began the conquest of Sicily in 1061 and it was complete by 1091.

Italo-Normans were the primary Norman mercenaries in the employ of the Byzantine emperors and the Armenians. Many found service in Rome, under the pope, and some went to Spain to join the Reconquista. In 1096, the Normans of Bohemond of Taranto joined the First Crusade. These Italians set up the principality of Antioch in the Levant. The entire Mediterranean world was touched by the unique Italo-Norman civilisation. In 1130, under Roger II, they created a lasting polity like William the Conqueror's in England: the Kingdom of Sicily, encompassing the whole of their conquests in the peninsula and the island.

Well its what i did with the Sicilains in MTw. My plan is to conquer North Africa and Southern Spain from the Moors, before getting one of my preists elected as Pope so i can get the Crusades i want to conquer the Holy land. Then i'll conquer the Byzantines, hold off the Timurids/Mongols when they arrive, then conquer the new world. Mayvb secure all of Italy as well if i dont **** off the Pope.

    Nice!
I just plan on being a Papal lapdog and concentrating on the South and East and bringing the Holy Land back into Christendom... and there is also Spain to mess around in as part of the reconquista....

Yeah, i dont want to mess with the Papacy either, but im going to make sure i have strong influence in it. I will do the reconquista myself, before attacking North Africa and working along to the Holy Land.

Plus the Sicilians are going to have some seriously kick-ass units. Dismounted Norman Kinghts anyone?

EDIT: me and Tb666 obviously feel the same about those guys.

I intend to kick some Norman ass and win back Sicily for the Byzantines!

The Byzantines crack troops, the Varangian guard, were mainly composed of anglo-saxons who fled England after Hastings. They had a special reason to hate the Normans and always loved the chance for a bit of revenge.
