The lawyers are legit but their claim is beyond weak.

In most cases like this if you put up a fight they will forget about the claim and you'll never hear from them again.

Their claim was for "symbols, terminology, and proper names" and all of these are protected under Fair Use. Add this with us being Non-Profit and many other points that have been raised in our defense lately by certain people who know what they are talking about, it adds up to a pretty solid defense. The team will sum all of this up in detail at some point but overall: The mod is 100% alive and will remain as such, but sadly we'll likely still have to leave TWC.

Just be patient and you'll eventually hear something official. No idea when lol.

I sincerely believe GRRM wasn't even aware of the mod. This "stop developing a free mod" seems to come from lawyers of the publisher. As another poster said, it seems a kind of "How do we justify our huge salaries today?" I'll add that it probably went with "Oh, google turned out some mod for a strategy game we know nothing about. Well, it's within our company's legal right to demand them to stop! So we will. We have to say we did something in this week's meeting after all."

I haven't read any of the books, I haven't seen the show, I don't plan to do either, and I wasn't planning on playing this mod, but I clicked on this thread due to the title and now I want to play this mod. Looking forward to it being done.

I appreciate the need for discretion and reservation, especially in the face of evil german litigation, but since that danger has apparently passed, could you guys please clue us in as to what the ultimate fate of the forum will be and when/where we can expect the migration to take place?
