Default Fair and challenging in the same time difficulty level for Multiplayer campaigns.

Me and my mate play a great deal of Rome 2 together or against. However, we are bored of the unfair advantage that the AI gets because of bonus stats in very hard difficulty so since we cant place very hard the campaign difficulty and normal the battle difficulty on MP, which difficulty level is the one that maintains the AI in a very good level of tactical prowess and overall strategy in the campaign map, without giving a significant bonus effect to its troops in battle, or none at all?

I have heard that the optimal way to fight AI in battle is normal but normal AI in strategic campaign level is pretty darn useless...Is this true?

    Thank you in advance

In strategic, normal is indeed not much of a challenge. However, the campaign difficulty is separated from the battle difficulty. In the campaign map, just open the menu and go to game settings and choose what you want. The battle difficulty, as much as I can tell, is more about giving bonuses to the AI than it is tweaking the AI behavior (which is hardcoded, I guess). Normal is the balanced version, no bonuses to each side. Hope it helps ;D
OBS.: I dunno, since I've never played MP, but I guess you could ask your colleague to play in the AI's place so you retain the challenge in battle.

I don't think you can separate the difficulty in MP campaigns, I've tried many times and found the option to be grayed out, if I've missed something please let me know.

The AI level of intelligence doenst change with the settings of difficulty. Only more money, stats and such.

The most fair and challenging way to play MPC (for me) is playing on Hard, and playing as AI 90% of the time (the 10% remaining when the AI has 2:1 odd in his favour). And of course auto-resolve most easily won battles, to keep it "fresh".

I found the AI was doing just fine on the campaign map on normal or hard. With every battle being a risk when armies are similar and both controller by players (And the AI quickly field armies even on normal) I find that multiplayer campaigns are really the way to go for a challenging Rome 2 experience.

Always play as AI (Auto-resolve ridiculously unbalanced fights.).

Now if only multiplayer always worked well. A lot of people (Myself include depending on who I play with), have a hard time playing more than 10 turns without a desync that destroys your who campaign.

    I know that feeling ~~

    A few things could help...

    1. Dont use spotify while playing coop.Close it, minimizin alone is not enough. Seems it caused desyns for me (Spotify is known for causing lag spikes and such in other games like LoL, Bf4 Rubberband etc.)

    2. Switch the host. Worked for me and my buddy.

    3. Dont download/upadload anything while playing coop. I think the mp coop in rome is vulnerable for those things.
