Default New DLC from CA - Going to conflict with 0.9?

    Hey guys,

Just wondering because of the announcements from CA recently, if they release DLC for Odyrisan Kingdom/Getae will that mess with the expansion the Getae are getting in 0.9?

    Gracias

    Sigh, it never ends..
Why can't CA just release proper expansions every 6 months or 12 months like Firaxis does?
At some point it would be nice to be able to even play this game without updates breaking things.
I mean, what..... I should play Vanilla Rome 2?.......

I believe it was meant to be a free DLC so I doubt it should cause problems in the way Syracuse did?

Obviously there might be a need for minor tweaks from DeI, but they have usually been extremely fast with these and I doubt it would affect save data.

Also, PLEASE, do not ask CA to stop patching the game :p

The only thing I'm aware of being announced was a Battle of Pydna free release. Another is coming next week, but I'm not expecting an expansion of the Thracian tribes just because of a DLC historical battle. That's more to tie in with the release of a book nominally related to the TW series.

I'm pretty sure the double decker reference and other evidence indicates it's going to be a Britain DLC.

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-DLC-announced!

So the Getae will be a new playable faction. That's the LC.

The new DLC is a new cultural pack (titled Pirates and Raiders) that will make Tylis, Ardiae, and the Odryssians. Ardiae pirate based, Odryssians skirmish based, and Tylis "really crazy infantry" (or something to that effect). They will have a new Balkan culture type (what?)...Get public order boost if at war with neighbors like the Suebi. New mercenaries and units. That's basically what they are adding.

I would imagine, based on what they said, that there is little that would be suitable to DeI.

if we are lucky the flc and the dlc is already there in the game with patch 12. So DEI team could have already have a fix for it ready. (just hoping )

They always seem to time their updates and DLCs so perfectly with DeI's updates too. :'(

Yeah, the new culture is going to be a bit of a mess. It means I will have to redo some things (I had added my own custom Daco-Thracian culture, but now they have this ridiculous Balkan culture that somehow includes Illyrians...). So, we will have to customize it for our own uses (or not use it at all).

Using your own would be the way to go IMHO
How they came up with this "culture" is beyond me

Something im curious about=>Will be the factions still be playable for those of us, who are not going to buy the dlc? I dont want to pay 7€ for something i already have.

Getae and Odrysian dont have that many units atm, but i think that will change in the future via unit packs and such?

You won't be paying for something you already have, they have to remove the dlc-factions from the mod when the dlc is released.

That's what I love about those "Free LCs" they give me something I already have and then take 2-3 factions away from you via dlc...

I'm curious how CA plans to make the Illyrians share a culture with the Thracians when currently the first have civilized building chains and the second have barbarian building chains. While I agree they shouldn't share the same culture whatever bonus CA decides to give them to turn them into pirates and raiders could be interesting. Perhaps this could be preserved in dei.
