Default WRE General's guard units: display bug with shields

Not sure where this one belongs, but I notice that the General's guard unit for the WRE have shields that do not look right. They have black corners, making them square. Seems like a transparent layer in the image for the shield isn't so transparent.... any idea how to fix this? I'd like to replace the image without doing a major patching of my game (which is BI Gold anyway).

Do you have any image editing software such as photoshop? if so download the nvidia pluggin that allows it to open dds files, er havent got the link handy as im not on my cpu but just google it. If you dont have photoshop i think u can still download gimp for free to do this with but ive no idea how this program works as ive never used it

    In photoshop

    Install this
Open the texture file of the western roman empire (.tga.dds file type)
in photoshop carefully select the black areas aroun the shield you should have a small window within the program with headers like layers and channels select channels and pick alpha channel then fill the selected area in black save the changes.

    hope thats clear enough
