Default hard-coded limits can be changed

1st post- Due to new invention (editing memory) it is now possible to change unit limits - moreover it can be edited in legal way! Just see that topic: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Memory-Editing
It seems it is just a little errm beta, but when Zarathos make it usable no overhaul mod can live without it. So I ask - will you use it? will you add new factions, units and provinces? I'm very excited about that and I think there will begin a new era in m2tw modding )

That would add so much more work.. I don't think the team can handle that at this moment. They're working on releasing Version 1.6 of the mod and as far as I know they've got their hands full for now.

On a side note tho, that would be so epic.

Besides new improvements are in early stage of development right now. It will take some time to release the 1.0v

im very surprised that so few people are interested by those fantastic news about modding..all the limits that can be reached by now would be a problem since 10 years now and could open almost infinite possibilites for modding oO

Well maybe. zarathos may find it is more difficult to do complicated modifications. However he claims to have already undone the simply limitations like faction and unit limits, as well as memory address limits, since this game was meant for 32-bit computers in 2006. That said, he obviously knows what he's doing and it'll probably be super awesome. But yeah, I can't wait and I feel like I'm a bit less tied to CA in terms of hoping for a more perfect TW now (and I'm really happy this was done with MTW2, as it's my favorite TW).

Maybe in a few years Rage of the Dark Gods will have even better AI and units and fixes! woo!

Yeah, it is the fact usually when people make brake-thrus like this, it can take a long time until we start to see the potential fruits of the work.

I didn't check it before, since I pressumed it was editing the executable, that is forbidden by CA. I even think reading fans tryed to buy M2-engine from CA back in days (?), to get full access to it, but they didn't want to sell it. But after seeing the thread, and seeing it is an actual work around which has same effects as doing the forbidden, and Jack Lusted (CA) being ok with it, color me excited. I do hope this will take M2 to the next level, no more hard-coded restrictions.

    I agree, it sounds revolutionary!
If COW uses this in the future, I prey my kid's can play this mod to its full potential.
