This is my preview of shield patterns - Aspis.


Preview consists of 3 types of shields:


- Colorful,
- Bronze,
- Iron.


All shield patterns are 85. These are mainly Hellenistic, but also Carthaginian. Here are famous symbols (eg anchor, owl, eagle, club, etc.), likeness kings (Alexander the Great, Philip of Macedon, Eukratides, Seleucus, etc.) and the gods (eg Zeus, Baal, Artemis, etc.).

I made this shield in 2007 year for Rome 1.

It is hard to pick up one from three. I think bronze and iron look more better, colored one look too unrealistic to me.

Just to reiterate my stance on the coloured shields, In the early days of RTW I followed KLA's work and used his many mods in my own compilation's and many times I must admit that I wondered if KLA was using historical resources...I was too be proved wrong on all occasions as KLA always substantiates his historical resources in depth and I trust his judgment at all times he is thorough and precise with his detail and I am proud to be using his mods in my games and will always trust his choices

Also I must also mention two other modders Tenerife_Boy as his knowledge of Classical Greece warfare is also second to none ( I know that KLA is conversing with him on the greek units) and also gary on Roman Warfare are two other members that I trust 100% with there research and knowledge of this era.

I do not like you using Silver Coins images for shields.
I doubt that portraits as those in coins appeared on shields too.

Maybe some of the symbols in coins were the same on shields (e.g. the Macedonian Star, the Ptolemaic Eagle, the Seleucid Reverse Anchor, etc..), but I doubt that they have portraits.

Those portraits are of high quality due to their medium (silver coins...you do not use them for buying cheap beer or couple of chickens).

A shield is made to resist hits.
You can maybe paint a symbol there...but the precise portrait of an Hellenistic kings with the same level of detail one can see in coins is too much for me.
