In HTW, Are buildings that increase trade worth your Rupees? Lets find out...

So are buildings that increase trade worth the Rupees you pay to build them? So far I say no. I only ever get Rupee Spare Change from them. And they cost hundreds to make just one.

Is this the way they are supposed to be? If so, I will only Build Farms, Mines, and population boosting Buildings from now on. And maybe a general in each town to increase the income by 30 to 50 Repees.

Any thoughts? Do you agree or disagree? Is this the case for you? Or do you know if their is a trick to use them, For they benefit the player?

The freeform campaign is very unpolished and poorly managed.

It seems to vary. You can spend 1500 on a farm that increases your income by 450, or 2500 on a marketplace that increases it by 30. Then again, I generally play Ordona, and the income they get means I can buy pretty much anything. Next time I get the chance, I'll roll a class that suffers from lack of resources more.

Part of me knows that spending any amount on increasing income will eventually pay off, with enough time. However, given the fact that the campaign can be boosted through quite quickly (Avatar of the Ice Wolf made a game of seeing how fast he could hit win conditions), maybe not. But for me, I take things slower with slow roll strategies, and enjoy the large scale war, rather than just aiming for victory, so maybe for me they are worth it.

    @Jakeford
That doesn't really have anything to do with what was asked. In TATW and vanilla, the question of whether some financial buildings are worth their cost is one I have asked myself.

I think it really depends on the settlements population, the faction, the resources near the settlement and the happiness bonus it provides. I consider that only the first level of a trading building is worth and that the results will reflect in between 10 or 20 turns after it was built. Take in account that the happiness bonus it provides, increases the population growth a little bit and it will get gains form that. I don´t have right now the correct numbers, but just by experience these are the situation that I consider better to build a gain exchange:
1.- The settlement has a tradeable resource.
2.- The population of that settlement has more than like 800 people, and the settlement have not a better or cheaper bust population growth building.
3.- The faction has not that many buildings to boost population growth [I always build at least 1 building in all of my conquered territories even if the settlement has only 400 people].
4.- If I have more money that I can spend; considering that I will play a game that will last at least 40 turns.

But that just my opinion. There is a limit of how much a population growth can get any settlement [it is described in the file "descr_settlement_mechanics.xml" in data folder], so it is very unlikely that the trading building are worth past the first level. Their benefit are at very long term.

Currently, probably not, except in certain places.

The issue is there aren't many resources in many places, thus not much in base trade numbers to really multiply. You can add all the trade bonuses you like-the outcome will be similar(For instance, I added trade bonuses to the armour building line-you have armour, you can now sell armour-and the city size upgrades), get as many trade agreements you like, the base problem remains. Sea Trade is also not working as it could be as there are no trade fleets at present(You can check this yourself). In those places where there are resources, it will be noticeable, mind you.

You're going to get more out of boosting happiness(To run at high/very high taxes where possible) and population growth(More people to tax). Also farms and mines, where possible, which are solid flat income. Be wary of oddities like the Goron Deep Mining, and make sure to check the numbers. Example: Gorons CAN build a Deep Mine in Death Mountain Crater, but the thing will generate 0 money, so you shouldn't.

The fact that most places are also tiny in terms of population also causes trouble.

Ordon is pretty much going to be one of the richer factions given it can plunk down a Plantation and double the farming part of income and increase pop growth to a level unreachable by others. Granted it must force the place to Large Town to do this, but it's worth the bother, and a player can beeline this.

The Settlement Details tab shows how much income will increase by if you build a new building, as a faded symbol next to the existing 'Tax', 'Farming', 'Trade' and 'Mining' symbols.
Mines are often worth getting for the 200 per turn increase in income, although the upgraded version is less good. Worth it if you have spare money though.

Indeed,I always use that tab whem deciding wich economic building I build. There you can see if the trade building will be worth the cost, often they give little or even nothing, sometimes theay are really profitable.

Some thing I discovered. When building a trade Building. It will show how much it posts trade in the "settlement details window". But from that window you can look at the "settlement trade window". Which will tell you how much you are gaining in trade and from where.
The amount it shows in the "settlement details window" is different then the amount it shows you gaining from each different trade rout in the "settlement trade window".

So like in the "settlement details window". You add 2 Rupees to your income for building a trade building.
But In the "settlement trade window". You added 2 Pupees for each trade rout.

    Can any one confirm this?
