Default When CNBC Anchors Speak Out About the Republican Party, They Get Taken Down a Peg

Fix yo face, dog! Fix yo face, homey!

The higher ups at CNBC must not have been amused by Sullivan's little outburst, judging by his atonement expressed to the ever stern-faced commentator and columnist Larry Kudlow afterward.

Also, who else here got a kick out of Cenk's impression of Larry Kudlow?

"Oh please! The Democrats don't give quite as much money to the banks as the Republicans do...Almost, but not quite as much."

This isn't symptomatic of just CNBC alone, as stiff as they are from having a stick up their bum. All the major networks, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News all manage control over the message their commentators have to present, no matter how mildly "controversial," or better yet unconventional. Watching cable and network news (aside from the serious, substantial stuff presented by Brian Williams) is certainly painful to watch for that reason, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

American parties make no sense to me. It's like choosing between gatorade and powerade.

    Ah! So you're an independent.

Or one of those lefty Green Party folks with Ralph Nader.

Or you're in a fringe right-wing group that even the Republicans have shunned as too extreme for their tent to cover.

Wait, the anchors or the commentators? Because I have no clue why you're including MSNBC on that list or Fox News of all places because I've seen the commentators of those two channels get away with all sorts of crap in both directions. Now the anchors have a little bit harder of a time and actually have to pretend they're doing a job and dance their way into what they say. Sort of. So which word did you actually mean to use in this paragraph?

I believe I meant to say anchors, because yes, they have to tow the line harder than anyone else given their contracts and reputations to consider. However, guests and commentators are certainly screened before coming on, perhaps more so at MSNBC than at Fox. Fox is usually prone to allowing some rather colorful tea party people a platform to spew a bunch of crazy stuff. Although MSNBC is often touted as the network news for progressives with the likes of Rachel Maddow, they are still clearly pro-business establishment and, whether it was Bush or now Obama, almost always try not to offend the sensibilities of the establishment crowd in Washington, D.C. They dare not step on the toes of the arbiters of conventional wisdom.

With that said, I really do miss Tim Russert.

I like how NBC has MSNBC and CNBC.

How accurate is what he said anyway? I was of the understanding it was basically equal.

Have you seen the Republican party these days? Fiscal Conservatives that might favor watching a channel like CNBC but hate watching Tea Party Fox would have a legit reason to have an aversion from the Democratic party for fiscal reasons, but hell if every political machination of the Republican Party since 2010 isn't something they want anything to do with for the most part.

A party with Conservative economic values and Libertarian social values would stomp the floor with both the Democrats and the Republicans if the two parties didn't have all the money.

Step #1: Get a slice of that money.
    Step #2: ... ???
Step #3: Profit come election time!
