    Default Intel-amd

I don't know if anyone already had posted this but,

i'm trying to hook up a new computer and before I set it up, I want to know what processor is best for RTW, MTWII, COD, and day of defeat

the intel core 2 duo (extreme)
    or
    AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-62

    and what graphics card
the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX ?

and... what is the nvidia SLI?

suggestions would be appreciated, and any news on future graphics cards would be nice.

nvidia SLI? I believe is where you run two GPUs, I would sau you could get a 6600 and o/c it very good, And as for the graphics card depends if you want to get the best now or get a mid range one and wait ti DX10 cards.(correct me if iam wrong on anything)

Intel core 2 duo E6600 is better than AMD FX62 and cheaper

the intel core 2 duo (extreme) is overkill, but buy it if you like

This card is similar to the 7900GTX, but costs less and availability is limited.

nvidia SLI is two video cards that work together in order to get better performance(Frames Per Second), the two cards have to be exactly the same for it to work.

This should help you out some

I suggest you read the sticky http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52737

Yep, even the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 is almost as good as AMD's best FX-62, even though they cost 200 and 1.000! But both should be fine with gaming, and the X6800 is simply the best CPU out there right now.

And yes, SLI is when having two same NVidia Geforce cards at the same time, meaning you'll get better framerates etc.

Well, it all depends on your budget.
Ideally, you would have an Intel 6800 Xtreme, two X1950XTX's in crossfire mode (ATi's answer to nVidia's SLI, which is two GPU's in one computer), 4GB DDR21066 RAM. But that would cost loads.
The E6600 is only £220, and is the same as AMD's best, the almighty FX-62 which is a staggering £550!
I would also recommend that for a GPU you dont go below either the 7900 or X1900 series. The X1900XT 256mb version is only £170, excelent value for money considering that its almost the X1900XTX! You could get the 7900GTO, but I would rather have the X1900XT. IF you have a really big bugdet, try and get the X1900XTX or the X1950XTX.

Yes of course you'd rather have an 1900XT, Shaun, seeing as you're an Ati-fan

And is the 1950 even out yet? I thought that the 7950's are the fastest out there right now... (GX2)

Oh and TWC is the worlds best TW support place, not tech. The tech award must go to Short Media-forums!!!

No, 1900XTX beats the GX2 under normal circumstances.

GX2 is only fatser at ultra high resolutions + high AA.

But if you play at 1600x1200 with 6xAA, the 7950 GX2 can't be beat by any single card out there.

Yes, the X1950XTX is out, and it beats the GX2, and X1950XTX crossfire beats quad SLI! Its not that I am ATi fan, its just that my Sapphire X1950XTX onlt cost £300 and is the best consumer card avaliable, the GTX's are well over that price.
