Default Which battle AI are u all using for Alex?

i'm trying to decide between athenogras vs. default

both sinuhet and darth seems to be bugged.
(darth is great at flanking but they suicide thier general. sinuhet always puts spearmen into defensive formation even when it doesnt benefit them - most of the time it doenst)

so far default and athenogras seem to be the onlyones that work, but they don't seem to know how to flank with cavalry, they generally just charge their cav straight up
anyone have experience with the different AIs can provide some input on which is best?

The AI in Alex (RTW v1.9) is fixed.

Formations and Stat tweaks can appear to 'help', but the AI remains the same.
"RTW/RS VH campaign difficulty is bugged out (CA bug that never got fixed) and thus easier than Hard so play on that instead" - apple

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

    really?

there seems to be a big difference at least with darth and sinuhet. darth is awesome at encircling and flanking me iwth cav, but it keeps suiciding its general. sinuhet ALWAYS puts spearmen in guard mode, most of the time to their advantage

I use Barbarian invasion AI. I hear alex is better for naval landing. I need my shiled wall though so BI is my first choice. The AI difference not so sure.

Indeed, the AI is hard coded. There is a difference between BI (v1.6) and Alex (v1.9) where CA did make changes - the naval element is one and it's supposedly better with phalanxes too (but players often get this wrong). It's the formation options I believe you refer too - as they are not part of the main Mod they aren't something I looked at testing (there are limits). What I have done is fight every battle, of any size, which has given me 100's of hours of various levels of battle - invaluable to review the detail (like individual unit missile fire).

It's interesting, whilst I use BI mostly, I hardly ever use shieldwall and really never the testudo!

Testudo never. But shield wall late in a battle will push through the enemy until they break. Underrated. Or push them past a gate to get the rest of the men in. It has some uses.

i was referring to battle AI and the various options in the launcher, i know they have nothing to do with campaign AI, but on that note i think alex is better. i've really only recently tested it - even though alex doenst do naval invasions, they are much better on land it seems.
