Default MTW2 and new graphics cards

You guys probably know that all the Total War games have issues with newer graphics cards, particularly Nvidia. I had to spend an ungodly amount of time trying to find a suitably old driver to work with RTW. This being said, how do you think MTW2 will handle newer cards? Maybe it’s a dumb question because it would be idiotic to release a resource intensive game that isn't compatible with the technology that can handle it... but then again MTW2 is based on the same engine as Rome. Is there a cause for concern?

    Hmmm I ordered that one:

    HIS Excalibur Radeon X1950XTX, PCIe, 512MB GDDR4

    Rest of the System:

    Asus P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP, Intel P965, Core2 Duo ready
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
    Kingston ValueRAM, Kit 2x1GB, DDR2, PC2-4200, 533MHz, CL4

What do you think? Am I supposed to play MTW II in High-Res?

I have honestly never seen anyone mention this before. Not only that, but this seems to be more about graphics cards than Med 2 (even though the topics are linked here) so I think this is basement material.

I vote for a forum sticky "Regarding Hardware Questions and Performance" which directs all discussions/questions such as these to the Basement.

well its related to how mtw 2 would handel newer hardware so i supose it is in the right place.
im currently runnin a intel 640 3.2 mhz, 1GB ram on a XFS nvidia 6800 256RAM PCI EX and its quite sluggish with everythin up

probably gonna get me a new graphics card. thinkin a 7800 GTX

You may be right in this case, but I still think a hardware sticky would do wonders for this forum. It would sure make life easier for moderators provided new members actually glance at forum stickeys.

Shaun, the demo wasn't configured for Crossfire, but it was for SLI. If the full version of the game is the same, then Crossfire is useless for MTW2. Right now, dual 7900GTX's in SLI mode is the way to go with MTW2. And for everyone running the demo just fine with a midrange VC, just wait until you siege a castle or town in the full game, it's gonna be kiss the eye candy good bye, or lagggg city.

PS Shaun, when you do get your X1900XT controller card and go Crossfire, that system of your is going to be bad to the bone. Nice build mate.....

Oh damn , Oh well at least my crossfire system will have an advantage in other games, I hope.

Sapphire is the best OEM, IMO, for the Radeon products, you'll be happy with your purchase.....

Is it true the 1950XTX is outperforming quad- SLI in many games? Has anyone tried crossfiring two 1950XTXs? That would be insane.

Yes, PC Format UK tested them and X1950XTX crossfire beat Quad SLI, and one X1950XTX beats the 7950GX2.

But it didn't beat (2) 7900GTX's in SLI, now did it. I have no doubt that (2) X1950XTX's will come out on top in Crossfire mode though. Hey, as great as they are, there's only so much my GTX's can do, ya know....

Erm, Im confused, I thought Crossfire was ATi's answer to SLI, and only GeForces could do SLI?

Your right and some Crossfire do beat SLi but only on certain games. There is no real winner as many benchmarks take into account different settings. Both can run fine, but some games will do better on one and better on the other.
