The women in Iran taking off the hijab

"Hijab" or "ḥijāb" is a veil that covers the head and chest, which is particularly worn by a Muslim female beyond the age of puberty in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family. It can further refer to any head, face, or body covering worn by Muslim women that conforms to a certain standard of modesty." wiki

So last decades the hijab came back into woman's lives but now in Iran there is a movement against it

The reactions are positive and negative

I am good with this, hope Muslim women in the west do the same

Fair enough, i was sure this compulsory practice wouldn't be sustainable.
Muslims have to accept that women are allowed to walk in public without a silly veiling and that it doesn't turn them into sluts or let them grow beards.

Where is Motiv8 when you need him. It is all free choice for sure, who are we to decide!

The Iranian practices are bad enough. I am waiting to see the revolution against the Niqaab which cuts off a female from all non verbal communication. A damaging psychological "need" they feel but more likely are pressured into.

It is not a free choice, you wish to enforce your view.

I don't wish to enforce anything. How on earth did you get that? I will object vociferously and campaign vigorously so that people can enjoy the same freedoms that I take for granted and object to people saying that subjugated brutally oppressed women or any other group are just choosing to be oppressed so it isn't oppression.

You understand the basic principle of non aggression? Well it turns out words, debate and a complete intolerance of support for bigotry isn't aggression.

Quite the contrary, it's against a forced discrimination. So, it should be up to women to choose.

Those pictures are fascinating, especially the ones with the Iranian dudes rocking out on guitar and drums, probably to some metal.

    Thanks for sharing, Snuggans.

Isolating Iran was arguably the greatest FP disaster for the US in the last 30 years or so

The US and Iranian monarchy of the shah were buddy-buddies, so once Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi was forcefully removed the US was up in arms and had to turn a cold shoulder to the new revolutionary Iranian regime. It's all rather funny, considering how the Iranian Prime Minister Muhammad Mossadegh was overthrown in a CIA-orchestrated coup in 1953. In any case all of that is ancient history; aside from the nuclear issue, I see no reason why the US can't kiss and make up with Iran.

Women in the West should be able to wear anything they want its a fundamental right. If they want to wear a burqa good for them. If they want to live in a bikini good for them.

Its probably worth the oppression to live in such a good looking country.

It must be a bisexuals paradise. No wonder the government is cracking down.

I heard Iran was a place where the state legitimises rape by clothing worn.

I also hear the Iranian state rapes virgins before they are executed.

If this stuff is true I feel really sorry for these women.
