ARGH help

Hear my call! Men of the west! Your king summons you!!( wel... Men and women.. And not just from the west... Nor am i your king.. But it just sounded cool.. xD)
Anyway... I am having some problems playing third age total war... And before somone wil direct me to other threads right away.. Plz hear me out? ( and mabye i posted this at the wrong section or idk...sorry for that if i did)

Ive looked at other threads and no succes using them till now.. Mabye bccs the situation im in is difrent from most other users or threads?

Before you ask:" Wel what situation my dear friend?"

Wel like this:
A couple of weeks ago i decided to start and play a new game.. Playing 700hours of rome 2 and 160 of shogun2 got me to think.. Mabye i need a lil brake from that.
Thats when a friend showed me some stuf of third age total war and i was hooked right away.!
I installed part 1-2.1
And part 3.0-3.2( even though i coudnt find part 3.1 on the modd site) and after that i decided to download the DIVIDE AND CONQUER STUF( Oeps... Sorry didnt mean to use capslock... Phone .. Ehe)

Before somone asks
Im using a windows 8 or 8.1? Ig was the last updated fersion i guess,
Got med2 on cd with a extra med2king on another cd and thats it
And the first time i tried to instal the game...( i didn know what to do) so i just installed all like on most youtube-walktrough stuff
And in the end i had a third age and a third age 3 file at my sega/med/mods file
And... I didnt know what to do with it... So i just dropped the third age 3 in third age file ( or the other way around)
And i tried it out...
And it worked! I was playing D.aC!
But shure, it crashed sooomethimes but i played up to 20 turns+ batles with the dunedain...
But the fact that the dunedain towns barely have any growth or ppl pissed me off... So i deleted all and gave up on it..
so you think?!

Last week i was like" hmmm why not lets try that again!"
So i downloaded all
Downloaded al in 1 file from the starts and voila... Dac didnt work.... I would jus get up to the starting load screen and after 1-10 seconds it would go poof black ans back to my main screen of my pc...

I tried alloot of things from then.. From youtube tips to this side thread..
Then i found out that if i was playing third age 1-2.1 it would work! But.. No sound while fighting ..nothing..
So i got angry at myself and deleted al... Couple of days later( now) i retried it but now nothing works!
Downloading only the 3.-3.2 parts < gama crashes when starting up
The dac < same story
1-2.1 < crashes at starting campaigns or custom batle ( giving the error " med. 2 has encountered an uncpecfic error blabla wil shut down")
...

.... So i im out of hope .. Kind of
.. Just have a lil hope ..
I tried allot of stuf adviced on the threads... But nothing worked out
+ its strange that it first worked( when i was obviously doing stuf wrong) and it didnt when i knew what to do with the files+ wich to load and how to install...

So here i am... Thinking of installing 1-3.2+ dac
Alll over and like the first time
Trowing it all in one map , praying that it wil work.......
But like last 20x ( i tried stuff) it wil most probaly be false hope....
:/ so.... What now? Anyone? Help? Plz
..i will try the whole downloading+ trowing it in one random map thing again most probaly... Spending another half day of downloading all ^^" but
Does sombody have a 21st back-up plan for me? Or any help..?

Hello there and welcome to TWC Forums!

Remove/delete any TATW related files/folders from your M2TW/ mods folder, and, install TATW ( 3.0 both parts + 3.2 Patch) using these steps: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post13675060

Then, test can you start a TATW campaign, and if you can, I would suggest to make a backup of whole Third_Age_3 folder somewhere for future installation of submods.

And, to install DaC , go here post #2:

yeah it works now atleast i can open an campaign and was playing for half a hour DAC but now at a siege battle it crashed again. but im guessing that has to do somethng with the whatever daylight function? or thingie xD just need to find out how to change that hmm

I did that... Then it worked
and now nothing does
i played for a while with lil crashes now and then....
but now
( none of my kingdom/med games want to start...)
they gice a strage error " this aplocation isnt competible with the installes blablabla
upgrade to windows 98SE, windows 2000 or higher)..
im using the latest windows 8.1....

so wtf...

Well, Windows 8 apparently has a problem with M2TW. Did you have a Windows Update recently?

Check for Windows Updates again, restart your PC and try your games again. If it doesn't work, tell me is your M2TW installed in either Program Files or Program Files(x86) folder?


If it is, I would suggest uninstalling M2TW+TATW, + running some good Registry Cleaner ( CCleaner is good), and, after that, installing M2TW in any other place just not in folders mentioned above.

yeah wel...the problem is with totaly cleaning\rebooting my pc il delete some temporary files\links that i need for Uni. and work...soooo..that aint such a good idea ^^''
but yea i am uninstalling it now and yeas i had them installed in program files(x86) xD
so next i will try installing it in acer (c thing i hope that this works.... :/

or is it smarter to create a new file at acer (c : ) ( cal it mediëval or something) and download the game in it?

You can make a folder named Games in your C: and install M2TW+Kingdoms there. And, if you made a backup of whole Third_Age_3 folder as I suggested, you can just simply copy/paste it in your C: Games/ Medieval 2/ mods folder. Or, you can even backup your current TATW+DAC Folder , and just copy paste it back

My kingdoms cd
( have med 2 on cd and a extra kingdoms cd)
installing medieval works
but when i clicked on kingdoms to instal it gave the same error...
sigh
this is getting realy tiring xD

After that, restart your PC, and run the installation of Kingdoms as an Administrator ( right mouse click on Kingdoms.exe and run as Administrator).

yeah i had the normal third age working etc. then this morning i made a new copy of it + tried to instal DAC on it and it didnt work bccs it gave me some kind of '' no adio error'' and crashed.. i deleted the copy+dac not caring for DAC anymore...
but now at my normal third age+safes i get the same audio error and crashes:/
