Tools for modding with a Mac?

I'm trying to make some adjustments to the excellent "Imperial Splendour" mod on my Mac, but... can't.

I've even borrowed a friend's PC so I can make some changes, but even with the DBEditor, I cannot get into the files. The program says that it can't open the files without the Empire.exe file - but with Feral downloaded version of Empire, there are no exe files.

What can I do? Are there any Mac-specific modding tools?

I could not get DB editor to work at all on my PC, but Pack File Manager 3.1.8 works like a charm
