    Default EB October Preview

    Greetings Europa Barbarorum fans.

We are still working on v0.8 and it has entered more extensive beta-testing and we are fixing problems and issues that we seem to find daily. 0.8 is not far off, but we won't give you any exact date, as we never know if we will face a massive hurdle again or if any other major problems will surface.
In the mean time, here are some new rendered shots of a mix of our artists' work.

And also on behalf of the EB team, an announcement:

    EB2!!

At this time, the Europa Barbarorum team would like to announce its plans to move to the newest Total War platform, Medieval: Total War 2. We have always endeavored to provide our fans with the most realistic, historically accurate, fun, and challenging experience, and we feel we are best suited to create a Roman-era modification for MTW2.

As always, we appreciate your support and enthusiasm. You make it easy for us to want to continue to provide the most entertaining experience possible.

We are open to all offers of assistance in continuing this effort, including working together with those who want to create historical realism mods for this timeframe, so we can combine our efforts and provide you a working modification in as short a timeframe as possible.

YAY! I don't know how to say it any other way. This is great news.

EB 0.8 and EB 1.0 will be released on the RTW platform. EB 0.8 is currently undergoing closed beta tests. I can't say what month it will be released in, but 1.0 won't be a major effort like the last two releases have been, given the complete system overhauls we have had to do before the last two releases.

Khelvan i'm just wondering that how can you deal with non-clone armies and such as new Mtw2 features? City - Castle, blood & dirt effects and new anim set?

    Good news then,

I have to confess it that you've done a very wise and brave decision for EB itself.

Your talented and experienced modder team is gonna make their best at MTW 2 platform. I doubt it!

    Godspeed mates

Hmm, I don't think that cataprhact is an Arabian unit..so the mystery of that new faction to accompany the sakae is still up in the air. :original:

Great news about EB2 as well. I'd be very eager to see what the team does with the new features of MTWII

I love the first unit, what is it? Who does it belong to?

i wonder how this news will effect Ortus Romani?
What do we mean by patriotism in the context of our times? I venture to suggest that what we mean is a sense of national responsibility ... a patriotism which is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.

Yea i just posted a new topic on their forum. I mentioned since they like what EB had done, maybe they should join up with EB, make things faster. I hope talks emerge so that there won't be 2 major mods of this. DIPLOMACY!! EB should reach out and invite them.

From past experience, when people state their goal is one thing, it is not always that thing, or I should say only that thing. For instance, when Gaius Julius and I joined up to create RTR, neither of us knew about EB which had been working on research and such for quite a long time. When I found out about EB I joined it, but GJ refused to, as he wanted the control over a mod team. So what could have been one single effort to make a realism mod became two, and split the community.

Given what sort of resources it will take to make a complete conversion of MTW2, I think it makes sense for mods to join forces and work toward the same goal, rather than split the community. However, as I said, stated goals are not always the true goals.

You will notice I am speaking in generalities for a reason, I don't mean this to apply to any current mod. I have already made our intentions clear and told the mods that we might be "competing" with that we should have a discussion about not competing in the future. One I haven't heard from yet, and another sent back an initial message about how much work had already been done by the team in preparation for MTW2, so it doesn't sound promising, even though we've been doing the same thing for 10x as long. We'll see how things turn out.

I just wanted you to know, if we end up having 3 or more mod teams working toward the same (stated) goal, it won't be because EB was not willing to join forces with others.

I am afraid I don't quite follow. As I said, EB v0.8 and v1.0 will be released on the RTW platform. However, non-clone armies are a huge, huge plus for us, something we've wanted for a long time. Also, our animator (alin) is incredibly fast - he kicked out that animation pack in a matter of weeks. He is limited by our researchers coming up with the correct animations, not the other way around.
