    Have not heard anything from him in a while... Mod might be dead.. Which is a shame. I've been playing d.e.i by its self and its a slaughter fest. Two equal armies = 80% casualties on earthier side no matter the tactics used. Kinda sucks without this mod.

    I tried the mod with DeI 0.96 and was not overly impressed. I especially did not like what was done to the cavalry. However the new combat in 1.0x is so arcade and disappointing to me that I would greatly appreciate an alternative. I hope for an update. First I will try Vae Victis now although I love nearly everything in 1.0. Except the battles.

    I'm with you, In D.e.I 1.02, I can't stand seeing spear units hold formation Sensurround on three sides while Calvary rams them in the rear over and over with out routing. A unit should route if attacked in the flank. Thants why I enjoyed this mod so much. I dealt with the slow Calvary and it getting tired fast. D.E.I battles in 1.02 looks like the movie 300. Elite units are godlike. In most battles i'll have everysingle enemy unit being fought from the front as well as a unit sandwiching from the rear. It takes far to long for them to break and most units fight almost to the last man. I miss Ancient battle's mod, arimies would flee and usually save 40-60 % of their army when they knew the battle was lost. The most realistic battle mod I've played. I hope bubba comes back and updates this, or someone else picks up his work.

    Hello all, I know you are sad that this mod is seemingly dead. The good news is that I have made my own version, it was surprisingly not that hard. The bad news is that I refuse to share it with you, I just wanted to let you know that by tweaking the DEI file downloaded from TWC you can recreate this mod for yourself, so just give it a try.

    Lol, I already have kind of done it my self using the kv_tables.. Did you do anything to the unit_tables or stats?

    Thanks Drew, I will have a look. I started playing around myself, mostly with Morale, I want units to break easier, but recover fairly quickly without shattering to simulate ebb and flow of battle.

    Well I have never released a mod and am concerned that my work would not be up to the standard that others here such as bubba777 have set. Also, I mod directly into the DEI pack file and am not quite sure how to make a separate pack file that would load correctly with the DEI version in the mod manager. Additionally my version has lower casualty rates for winning side, 5-10% as opposed to the 10-15% of bubba's version, I don't know how that would be received. Finally, I'm not sure that I am prepared for the commitment of maintaining and updating a mod, the mantle of responsibility seems quite daunting.
    However I could release an excel spreadsheet I use to create the mod. It has all the variables I change in it, as well as the directory it can be found in. Perhaps I will just share it eventually, we'll see.

    I also took the original mod and made it work for myself. The pack includes about 22 out of 45 of the original table changes. This mostly leaves out a lot of the unit, weapon, armor, and projectile stats of the original mod. However, DEI stats are not far off from the changes made in the original mod so I don't think it impacts things too much. The only problem may be projectile tables as I've noticed it can cause some some weird things with morale.     Breaking is definitely easier with the pack file. I just did a test of it where I played as Rome against Macedonia. It definitely felt much different from vanilla DEI battles as my lines were constantly breaking when becoming too exhausted or when the enemy flanked my men, so I really had to take advantage of the maniple to keep fresh troops in the fight while my routing men reformed for a second wind. It has become a lot more strategic as you have to make sure to shatter the enemy or they'll reform and attack your flanking forces from behind. It's definitely not perfect, but it's a work in progress for me. My next move is to try and include the rest of the battle entities as I've only got artillery and mounts done. Then I'll probably look into balancing things more.

    Well, great work Drew, perhaps you should create a spiritual successor thread sub mod of the sub mod of the mod (haha I love the way modding works in TW games).

    Thanks, but most of the credit is still bubba777's. I mostly just did some copying and pasting. I might make a new thread, but I want to keep tinkering with what I have before I do.
