This game hates me

This is probably my 32 Campaign I make using Med 2 with SS 6.4 and people ask me why I never finish my campaigns. I'll tell you why.

At some point in it's petty existence, the game will crash on changing a turn and then no matter what I do, I cannot advance. This time was turn 236, as soon as it reaches the rebel faction: "Medieval 2 encountered an error and will now close". And bam, this is how my campaigns end. Soo many years of playing this, and so far I have achieved nothing. I use multiple save files for every campaign, didn't mattered, none of them work.

Is there a magical tool outhere for me to recover my saves? Or can I just place the game in the trash can as being the biggest time sink of my life.

There is a log in the Stainless Steel folder. Have you looked in it with Notepad to check for [Error] messages?

Have you checked the Stainless Steel Bug Reports and reported yours?

stop being like everyone else & play a mod which actually works, I had the same problem with most of the "bigger" & known mods (unfortunately SS was was one of them) until I started making my own & playing ones created by true fans of the game and not a team of "pseudo" techies" out for the fame & notoriety~ (just my opinion of course)try Irishron`s Mod out "Regions and Provinces" out! it is basically a much larger vanilla map with more factions and a lotta other good stuff!

Is it like Stainless Steel then? The only reason I use it it's because it's the only good one for a balance between historical/gameplay, plus adds many factions and units.

I checked that one out and I don't really see any media of it, showcasing units or factions.

Not even close to Stainless Steel. It will never be. The ai choices for one are not included.

If you like the way SS plays for the most part but a few "bugs", turn in a Bug Report in their forum. I am still finding CA's bugs in mine. You may have hit one of them in their mod they may not be aware of or a way around it.
