    Since I don't have that game, or know what the tech tree there is like, could you expand this suggestion by posting which technologies from V2:AHD you'd suggest we use?

    Engineers can come into play here. Maybe give them a skill where they can build a hasty cover emplacement using sand bags or something for arty.

    Research "Cover Emplacements", Engineers can build cover emplacements for artillery.

    I think that they should add more diplomacy options like if you nearly destroy a country and they want to enter a truce you should be able to go to diplomacy and put stuff like Thant country can only a army so big or the other country will go back to war with them

    But there's pretty much only two major 'nations'.

    Nice idea. They already have the ability to build stuff but it's not being use that much in the mod so there's obviously room for improvement.

    To reduce the cost of upkeeping units, there could be for the Union a "cattle drive" research and for the Confederacy a "blockade runner" research.

    It would be nice to have a "home guard" research that will allow Militia to be better trained and have improved stats in battle (they would finally become usefull ^^).

    There could also be a "West Point" research that would allow generals to have a boost in battles, but I don't know if it's doable ingame

    There could be something done with the "Hot-air balloon" technology. Maybe improve the line of sight during battles.

    If spies are enabled in 3.7, a research could be added where you have Women spies. Hundreds served during the Civil War, on both sides. You could therefor make a difference between the Gentlemen and the Ladies ! Gentlemen would be used to do research and for assassinations whereas the Ladies would be better used for gathering information on enemy troops and for sabotage. Anyway, it's an idea to work on.

    For the CSA tech & research tree, there should be a "slavery" tech that will improve farming and trading, or it could reduce the cost to upgrade farms, cotton & tobacco plantations.

    Slavery existed long before the Civil War, so it'd be very odd to research "Slavery" during it. In making suggestions, consider that Vanilla ETW takes place in a period of about 100 years, ACW mod takes 4 years. In these 4 years whole technologies such as "railroads" or "steelworks" or "steamships" weren't invented. Only some details were improved on some of them. Ideas such as military academies and militia training are nic,e but all this existed prior to the war, so should be enabled from start of it...

    Things that made sense so far, and are actually directly related to some advances or improvements made during the Civil War are:

    1. Conscription, for conscript units
    2. Emancipation, for black units
    3. Repeating rifles, for repeating rifles units
    4. Gatling gun, for gatling gun unit
    5. Sharpshooters, for sharpshooters units
    6. Baloon observation, for possible line of sight or strategic spotting
    7. Railroad logistics, for better strategic movement
    8. Battlefield Medicine, for army recovery rates
    9. Industrial capacity boost, for faster production or cheaper recruitment/upkeep
    10. Blockade runners, same as 9.
    11. Propaganda, for faster "culture" spread and/or higher battlefield morale
    12. Espionage, for better strategic spotting
    13. Entrenching, allows constructing forts and battlefield entrenchments
    14. Horse requisition, to reduce cavalry recruitment/upkeep
    15. Modern artillery, perhaps to make available rifled guns, breechloaders, shrapnel shot
    16. Siege artillery, to make available the heavy mortar and 30lb Parrott
    17. Engineers, battlefield entrenchments
    18. Hand grenades, for grenade units
    19. Signal Corps, ??
    20. Submarines, ironclads, torpedoes, due to engine restrictions not applicable to naval battles, but could have a strategic effect
    ...

    So, put your thinking caps back on, think of how Vanilla ETW techs influence the game, meaning we have to imitate similar mechanics and what, like suggestions above, would work for the Civil War concept. We do not have programmers available that can just whip up any ol' idea we come up with, as we're modders, we just change existing stuff into something that fits our theme.

    - "Civil War Photography" to improve the moral of the population
    - "Minié ball" to improve the accuracy of muskets (it was a cone-shapped more accurate bullet that soldiers could load without the aid of a ramrod)
    - "Breech-loading rifles" will be necessary to unlock units with those kind of weapons
    - "Telegraph" to improve the speed of troop movements (let's say that with better communication you can move your troops easier and faster on the campaign map)
    - "Veteran reserve corps" for USA, will allow your militia to be better trained (as they were mainly former battle-hardened soldiers who were either infirmed or had been discharged)
    - "Southern Honor" for the CSA will give a boost to the upkeep of units and reduce the cost of recrutement
    - "Mechanized farming" will allow to have a better income when farming (as farms lacked manpower during the War, they had to compensate with mechanized devices)

    Civil War Photography wasn't just battlefield pictures, but also pictures of the soldiers posing for the camera, pictures of the men in their incampment, ... Some of these pictures would be used in newspapers for propaganda, for recrutment, ... It could inspire patriotism for the population ^^
    Even for the soldiers, having their picture taken by famous photographs (like Brady) was good for their moral, it was a change in their dull incampment life.

    I thought it would be cool if once a battle was concluded, the victor could capture some of the loser's cannon, kinda like the sea battles where you can capture some of your foe's ships. It would be even cooler if your troops could man abandoned cannon mid-battle, but that seems like reaching too far...

    There could be one or two technologies that would increase the income of goldmines, because gold was as important to both sides as troop strength, battle tactics, public support, ... it backet the various currencies used during that time period :
    - "Improved Mining Equipment" (Improved equipment will help mine more gold)
    Once you research it, you get a first increase to the income of gold mines and you can therefor research :
    - "Army protection for shipments" (I couldn't find a better name, but you get the idea ^^ as there were a lot of robberies and raids on those gold shipments, adding guards to them became a necessity to insure the gold would arrive safe)
