Though they should take more time to show these teenagers becomeing power rangers though. Not just using that transformation thingy in the first episode and know straight away how the weapons work, how to summon their creatures without even being told they had such a thing, let alone knowing how to controll it when they may still be learning how to drive a car.
I mean.. in a reboot they could spend the first season very much training and learning to use all their stuff. Overcomeing personal issues along the way. And each one of them could have an issue.
Personly I was a fan of the original blue ranger, because he was wearing glasses and was a bit geeky like me yet he was just as cool and strong as the other rangers. When we where pretending to be the power rangers on the playground, I was usually the blue ranger. (everyone wanted to be the red ranger anyways.)
I do think that the show could be a good help to teenagers which would be the main target audience.. teenagers in high school who deal with different kinds of real issues, and what changes about these issues once they are given power.
Kind of the familiar "with great power comes great responsibility" thing, but juggling it amongst five characters in different ways.
The geeky guy who gets bullied getting such powers could risk becomeing a worse bully for example. First he could struggle in his physical training, but when his confidence grows it could turn into overconfidence.
The tough and popular quarterback kind of guy could be overconfident to begin with however, and could have difficulty accepting the others as equals in combat. Might have more issues when not being chosen as the leader.
The cheerleader kind of girl who is just a pretty thing could slowly discover she has more to offer than just looks, and could find her own strenght. Also she could struggle with abusing it when trying to prove shes more than just a pretty face.
One could be more of an outcast. Smoking, using drugs and such. Bad effects of drugs use could be made appearant through this character, taking its toll during training.
Could also be neat though if all of them are not friends to begin with. They could all attend the same high school for convenience and move on to the same college in later seasons, but it could allow for more relation development. The quarterback could have been bullying the geeky guy for example. Seeing how they'd all share the same secret and would have these responsibilities together, that would create a natural bond.
As for the fighting.. I do think there shouldnt really be dying or such involved. A different villain could be used though. Still someone who creates monsters and sends them down to earth, but it should be with more of a purpose.
Not really a villain of the week thing, but a larger plot. Also, the rangers could do some normal superhero stuff alongside it to help others.
Megazord could be there, but shouldnt be used every episode.. just at key moments to face something gigantic. Growing monsters could be a rare occurance.
