Hello all,
After many failed attemps to get this mod running, (I tried to install it on a 1.3 version twice, but I didn't realize that until a week ago), I finally managed to install the mod. I made a custom battle, looked at the units, and then thought...why's there so many different types of French infantry/cavalry? Three types of ''guard''(I suppose that means Imperial Guard) and a hell lot of different ''chasseurs a cheval'' and all...I mean, they're all gun-less cavalry..? Why like, 7 types?
After having more or less found out what are the differences between the, good looking by the way, French Infantry, I gave up on the Cavalry, I tried the Battle of Borodino. I couldn't my Grenadiers in Line Formation, so I just used my sole unit of Chasseurs to eliminate the unit of Russian Jaegers behind the wall(very start of the scenario). I was amazed at how long this took even on tripled speed; aren't Light Infantry supposed to be good at long range shooting? Or did I mess up with the formations?
Then I tried to cross the bridge with my Grenadiers to get the other Russian Jaeger unit. Bridge crossing is a bit awkard...my units don't follow my order to cross unless I direct them over the bridge step-by-step.
But then, after crossing the bridge, I got a new objective: help my fellow French drive the Russian from the hill. I tried using my artillery...but they caused no damage. Nothing. I aimed them at the Grenadiers on top, the Curasiers next to the hill and the Musketeers behind it. Okay, I didn't really expect those cannon balls to go OVER a hill and then descend to hit a musketeer, but it was still weird that they couldn't hit the Curasiers and Grenadiers. Did I do something wrong? I understand it's not a great idea to shoot a canon uphill, but they couldn't hit the curasiers either, who weren't even on the hill.
So....this mod is certainly looking very awesome and all, but musket and artillery fire is very un-deadly, and I'm wondering whether that's the idea or not.
