    Default Bring back Senate?

Back to this wonderfull mod again after a break and trying to take up Rome 2 again after patch 12. Sieges still broken and for some reason battles seem in slow motion. Even the fast forward doesn't work. But enough of that horror.

Although i love the Cursus honorum that this mod has simulated i still miss the Senate meetings and missions. Adds some trigger events to the game that spices it up a bit. Perhaps the Optimates and Populares can be the two parties on the Senate Aproval meter. Should one meter get out of whack say above 80% against you there is a check for a chance for Civil war. The party against you decides if you are fighting to defend the Republic or support the wannabe dictator.

I still miss actualy having the senate screen and the missions (possibly only issued against countries currently at war with). Vanilla had the mechanism and it was nice except for tieing it to seperate Roman factions. It can be tied to the players behavior (populares love conquest, Optimates love completing the missions it gives you). In this way you can actualy control if you defend the Republic or a Future Caesar.

Realy the only thing missing from this awesome mod. Well that and recording accomplishments (like 2 time consol credited and so forth.)

You guys can do anything! consider it!

I think it would be awesome to have missions in general.(like M2)
I would definitely like to have the senate give me missions and rewards.

If it could be done for every faction though it would be really cool.
Maybe rename the Senate to "Council" for other factions but i think a few of them had a senate right?

Pretty fun to have it hardcoded to use romans_brutii, romans_scipii, romans_julii, huh.

Since two of them no longer exist in RS2 anymore (well, let's see, romans_julii are Belgae, romans_scipii are Scythia)

Oh no no. Not bring back the three factions. God no. But the senate meetings and missions for your FL and characters. The end result through time can be what triggers the civil war only you would not know who would be against who. That would maybe depend on party member traits that can be added like optimates and such.

I just want to hear that banging gavel again. Vanila sucked but some features like that were nice and should return.

    Town watch as well.

Is there nothing that can be done though?
I noticed that factions are now separate through the launcher. Is it possible to change the vanilla factions "slot" for every campaign?

    For example:
Using romans_brutii/_julii/_scipii for the player faction and assigning a different slot to Belgae, Scythia, etc.

No, there's only 21 slots, all used. You can't be multiple factions as well, heh.

The hilarious things about the Senate in vanilla rtw were...

Getting them to declare me an outlaw as fast as possible so I could steamroll the other Romans and start expanding everywhere.

"Commit suicide" missions. Linked to the above, because when my ubergeneralfactionleader was declared outlaw for not dying, he was soon sieging Rome.

If only the RTW Senate had realized that not doing anything would leave them perfectly safe...

I always tried to please them and hope they declared the other factions an Outlaw so i can fight to defend the Senate. It needed some work but i blame the original programing and not the concept. The concept was cool.

The funny thing is, it's rigged so that the player is supposed to end up being the one fighting the sprq faction as well as the other romans, whichever of the roman factions the player is.

Also, the victory conditions mean you have to hold Rome, so they're dead... even if somehow one of the other AI factions does it.

I think it's the expansion thing that does it... constantly expanding makes them first like you, then eventually hate you. Though repeatedly ignoring "important" Senate missions will rapidly make the Senate's approval tank, at which time you can get to the murder extremely quickly.

    Yes, I've looked around.

Apparently the game doesn't require the roman factions, the hardcoding uses the first four factions, which can even be parthia, carthage or whatever... then again RS2 has "civil war" done via the magic of scripting.

Extended Cultures also did that for Carthage.
In that mod Carthage(the city) is its own faction which acts like Rome in vanilla and a second factions acts as playable Carthage.

This wont work since there are not faction slots.

The RS2 elections and loyalty system are annoying too but this would definitely be an improvement IMO.

I dont even bother investing in any generals when playing as Rome. The messages every turn and the micromanagement required for generals in armies are too annoying.
If anything starts it dies and gets replaced.

So you're saying, unlike the vanilla rome senate, when you tell people to commit suicide, they have to throw themselves into some pikes and die...

    I see.
