    Default Richest region?

What seems to be the richest region in the game? Personally I think the Iberian peninsula/northern Africa had been my biggest ever economy, merchants on the gold and ivory can pull in 1000g a turn. I haven't ever conquered Italy in a game though and feel like that might take the cake

Northern Italy is very rich as a region. If you think of single provinces, Stockholm and Venice can become economic powerhouses. If you think in terms of merchants, they can gain a lot trading silk in the province of Constantinople. Their income depends on what faction they are from, however. Playing as Venice, I had single Merchants make more than 6,000 per turn each from silk in the province of Constantinople. If you want to know how to do it, search for my merchant guide.

May I add that the noble Delvecchio1975 was part of the inspiration to write the guide. It is only fit that he should reappear in this thread, still with his Christmas garments attached.

I don't think this is the guide he was talking about but it should be a start. for vanilla m2tw but it shouldn't matter much in respect to SS http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...merchant+guide

Well when i was playing with Hungary i got the most florins from Constantinople and Venice. Also i noticed Sofia was generating 3000+ per turn and it was a castle. I wonder how much that would be if i turned it to city.

I wa under the impression that the further away your capital was from the spot your merchant was working, the more money they would make.

That being said, NW Africa usually makes alot with merchants.
Constantinople has like 7 different spots for merchants right next to the city.
Italy , i think, is the richest collection of regions, especially Venice.

So... Id say Venice, Cairo, Constantinople, maybe the region just south of Arhus, Ive had York do well, and Athens (if Constantinople is controled by rebels).

partly true. the value of the resource is defined by the closest instance of it to your capital. for instance if you have sugar next to your capital, it won't be worth much even if you go to a sugar resource on the other side of the map. that's why amber is valuable for Novgorod (because of its high base value), but much more so for the Byzantines or the Aragonese ...

I think Constantinople is the richest single region. I ve managed to make like 12000+ fiorins per year there. And I think I ve seen a 16000 somewhere in this forum..

Going off of rough experience, I'd say as far as single settlements go Constantinople and Venice might be the richest settlements to own.

As far as broader areas go, I'd wager the North Italy area and the Levant/North Egypt section of the map are among the richest to own.
