    Default crusader mercenaries

    hi everyone, im playing as the crusader states. the pope declared for a crusade against cairo. so i decided to take a general as a crusader army. the problem is that i want to recruit the crusader mercenaries, such as the spearmen, mounted and dismounted knights in the Jerusalem, Kerak, Antioch regions but none of them appears. the only ones are pilgrims and religious fanatics. any ideas?

    Those units you are looking are only available in european regions

    Its been a while but... Those units are only recruit-able as mercenaries with only a crusading army. I am not sure if you can recruit them as Crusader States while you are on crusade.

    i tried with a crusader states´crusading army near jerusalem, gaza and antioch, but none of the crusading mercenaries appeared. i believe that an early crusade with this faction is quite difficult to be successfull due to the lack of units

    well you could edit the descr_mercenaries.txt to allow those units in the levant/holy land regions, but it would require a new campaign to take effect.

    thank you, but i think ill still play with the vanilla SS. by the way, where do you get the great cross unit?

    EDIT: how do you guys go on a crusade as the crusader states, early campaign at its early stages?

    You don't, hide in your cities and build forts while you wait for the bulk of Europe's crusader armies to arrive and then join and assist them as needed.
