Default Any news on campaign map modding?

I was just wondering if anyone had any information on whether any progress has been made in modding the campaign map? Or are the tools not released yet?

I noticed that one user had managed to completely mod the Shogun 2 map to add in 83 new regions and 86 new factions - what a genius! Thread available here - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-new-factions)

Are the campaign map modding skills transferable to Rome 2?

I guess it will take a very long time until the map can be succesfully expanded. Mainly because it took 3 years (if I am not mistaken) until the Shogun 2 map was modable. And the Empire campain map still cant be changed either.

So you and others will certainly have to wait for a very very long time until the map can be edited.

And once we know how, we will be confronted with potential other problems. Such as the limitations on how many factions one can add. I would certainly like to add several provinces especialy to Greece, Gaul, Britain, Iberia and North Africa. As well as seperating Sicily as a province from mainland Italy.

Thanks for the update mate, appreciated.

How come it took three years then? Was that three years spent studying how to mod the map or did CA release the tools at a later date?

I guess it's something to look forward to when I come back to Rome 2... Total War games are all very re-playable.

    No news from CA yet.
We are still waiting for a tool or a raw model + exporter like the one for TW:S2.

No news about an equivalent to TeD to modify battle maps too.

Just wanted to mention that I'm also waiting for this. It's somewhat arbitrary certainly but a different campaign map is my line in the sand for getting back into Rome2 after which point I'll start to look at what DLC might be interesting.

They won't release campaign map modding tools until another game is released OR good chance that they won't release it at all...

The main reason is that they want to sell as much low effort DLC's. IF we had the map editing tools there would have been 100 new campaign maps out there taking away CA's profit. Shoguns tools were released at the bare end. I however doubt that this time the tools will be released at all...

CA managed to damage their reputation so badly and we know from the past that CA does exactly the opposite than what is expected from the fan base.
