US Secretary of State John Kerry has warned of a possible genocide in South Sudan if more peacekeepers are not rapidly deployed to end the conflict.

South Sudan had been hit by "ethnic, tribal, targeted nationalistic killings", he said.

Rebel forces deny UN charges that they killed hundreds of people along ethnic lines after seizing the oil hub of Bentiu last month.

More than a million people have fled their homes since December.

Mr Kerry was speaking in Ethiopia after holding talks with African Union officials about the conflict.

He is on a four-nation tour of Africa, which ends on 5 May.

After talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Mr Kerry also called for greater freedom in Ethiopia.

I am not going to act like a lemon and complaining how naive and rush people supported South Sudan independence three years ago, but I do wonder if Mr Kerry is so concern about possible genocide in South Sudan, why not begging his boss sending the greatest military warmachine in world to South Sudan?

Sending troops would be ok if the South government asks for it.
But how solve the problem: These tribesmen can not stand a fight so you win with ease but if you leave they will start again fighting

Better; lets recruit the Hutu rebels in Congo and used their experience to conduct an inquisition against potential genocide committers.

Sadly, the US has been trying to help for years. We've been training their military, sending engineers and so on. The only thing that's left is sending a sizable force over there. I don't know why we don't ... they have oil, and they seem like an easier force to deal with than any Middle Eastern nation.

I say just let them fight it out. The world proceeded as normal when the Rwandan conflict occurred so I doubt anything substantial will come of this conflict if a genocide occurred. If people absolutely feel the need to intervene then let the Chinese do it since they control most of Africa anyways.

Which is why I find it both to be comical and enlightening. The US spends the most money on its military and has bases in almost every region on this planet, and Kerry(Who is an American Government official no less) is calling for intervention...that's the comical part. The enlightening part is that since Kerry is calling on other countries to send in more bodies, the US does have a limit as to what it can do which leads me to deduce that American influence in the world via geopolitics, realpolitik's and military might is diminishing at a very slow rate.

Chinese should contribute more to the peacekeeping efforts of the UN in Africa, also their blue helmets would be respected since Chinese have economic presence in Africa that is overwhelming!
