Default Changing Roman Generals/Legatus unit size and stats

Roman generals used to be a very powerful cavalry unit back in RTW. But with only 40 horses per unit in R2, I rarely make them to partake in combat as a front-line or even a flanking cavalry unit.

    1. What tables should I look at if I want to increase the size of the unit to 80 or even 108 like what was back in RTW.
    2. A good solution would be to be able to recruit generals as Equites in the early, legionary cavalry as mid and Praetorian cavalry units as late game general units in the campaign.
    3. If 2 is not possible what should do to increase the size of the general/legatus units' stats.

Same question for other normal cavalary units as well, how do I change the size to 108?

    1. You can use main_units_tables to increase the number of men and land_units_tables to increase their stats.
    2. You can assign other units as generals using commander_units_permissions_tables.

The size is a very difficult one to get correctly as extra men will make the unit much more powerful. In my Parthian mod I have a unit that is both an infantry unit and a ranged unit. I raised its numbers to make them better in melee but the only problem was that they DEMOLISHED every single other ranged unit in the game, even my elite archers that I had already added in the mod. I had to compensate by giving them a weaper bow and taking away their abilities. If you raise the size of cavalry units then you should also reduce their stats.

Thanks for the help. I tried what you said and did some tweaking in PFM. Got a mod working with 80men Roman general and legatus unit. Just started testing it interms of balance etc. Will post a detailed mod later.

OK I made a mod which covers step number 1 and 3 from my OP. Roman generals/legatus are now an 80men unit.

Also buffed the Units fighting stats slightly and a major buff to their health so that they won't die so quickly. Happy to say that they are not OP.

But I ran into another problem, The mod I created is not save game compatible fully. After I activate the mod and load up an old campaign, the generals were still a 40 men unit, but if I recruited a new general it was 80 men unit. Don't know how I can mod some tables that allow the possibility to upgrade a unit to a larger size.
