Stainless Steel 7.0
I like stainless steel 6,4. And i always play late era campaign because i like late units. What i'm gonna say about the ai. I liked gracul ai but the problem is about gracul ai. After some turn everyone is starting to declare each other. I was playing as france. I declared war to hre. After some time hre declared war to milan. By the way hre is at war with poland and hungary. I don't understand that hre has already too much enemy and why does it make new enemies even it is weak. Why doesn't ai try to deal one enemy at a time. And i saw the meaningless alliances. I saw byzantine allied with denmark. And many example like this. Denmark is far away from byzantine and i am so sure denmark can't help byzantine. Why would i make an alliance with a country that ceartinly useless. And I can't even follow who declares war against who and who allied. Please change this in the future version...

Re: Stainless Steel 7.0
An ally is a value in itself, even if that ally cannot or does not come to your aid. Allies will deter enemies from declaring war against you, and enemies will make peace more readily with anyone who has allies. The more allies the better. Also, having allies will increase reputation over time, which brings other benefits. Being at war with another faction will make that faction's relations with your allies deteriorate. So there are many reasons for entering into alliances apart from just getting military aid in a conflict. If you manage your alliances carefully, you can raise your reputation and limit the number of wars you are fighting at the same time.

Re: Stainless Steel 7.0
what about the wars? Gracul ai is really different. My weak enemy is at war with many factions. And yet he tries to gain more?! He can't even deal with one enemy but still he declares war against eveyone

Re: Stainless Steel 7.0
No, he doesn't. Even under Gracul AI, AI factions try to reduce the number of factions they are at war with. Since the AI is more aggressive than with other settings, even a weak factions may declare war on you while being at war with others. However, that faction will have a tendency to sue for peace shortly afterwards, at least if you have a reasonable reputation.
The problem is that many people do not understand the mechanism underlying diplomacy. AI factions do not consider their own strength or what has happened in the past when dealing with other factions, and they tend to attack irrationally at times if offered a weakly defended target. In diplomacy, AI factions will always try to reduce the number of factions they are at war with, and they will prefer to deal with factions that have a reasonable reputation. If you start a game and have you reputation plummet into the basement first thing, you will have a hard time with diplomacy afterwards. Try to raise your reputation instead, and a lot of possibilities will open up.

I don't know. i like wars but alliance has no efect in this game. I am not saying that i want my ally to help me but and i can't follow diplomacy because there are so many meaningless wars and alliances

Re: Stainless Steel 7.0
Alliances affect decisions by the AI on whether to invade. It does not matter who the allies are geographically but it seems to take into account their overall strength. Factions have low standings with their neighbours, so alliances generally form between non-neighbours. If neighbours formed alliances, which sometimes happened in real history, the game would run the risk of becoming passive.
