The Office of the Lord Treasurer of the Empire

Lord Treasurer - Head of the Treasury, he may raise or abolish taxes as needed for the Empire, and may be as selective as he pleases in applying the tax (eg taxing only certain Systems or people), he may make available funds from the Imperial Treasury for anything he deems fit and controls access to and editing of the State’s financial records, and thus may control what the Emperor sees. (Powers: May use tax money to fund other Ministerial posts, or to fund whatever else he wishes)

A young woman escorted by two men in suits arrives outside of the Lord Treasurer's office and asks his secretary if the man is available for a meeting. Each one of them wears a ring bearing two olive leaves with a basilisk in the middle.

Alexios was pouring himself over the mess the previous treasurer had left behind, noticing the blatant thefts of taxes from many previous owners of the title he now held. At least it gave him pointers on how to do it himself. Then his personal guards notified him of a visitor, describing a young women holding the mark of House Medici, a merchant house. He reasoned that it would not have taken long for the Merchants to come to him, regardless of their distaste for his houses advantages over theirs.

He motioned to show her in. "Welcome, my lady....? "

[Xion]

Luciana dismisses the two men with a wave of her hand before walking into the office and sitting down in a chair across from Alexios. "Luciana Medici, my lord." She then faintly smiles. "My family's corporation would like to extend an offer of trade to Vici, exchanging our high quality machinery and equipment for...your "supplies"." She gestures air quotes when mentioned slaves as a supply.

[Zectorman]

Alexios stared at the woman for an uncomfortable amount of time before speaking in low almost threatening tones, "My lady Medici....I do not know you, nor do I trust anyone from a merchant house. These...supplies, you ask for are a dangerous commodity. For both parties involved. And not only that but you come here, the capital of the empire to one of the most heavily secure areas of that capital..." Alexios takes out a data pad and beings to write on it as he talks to the woman, "I will not insult either of us by continuing this discussion, it is an affront to the legitimacy of my office and the honor of the Emperor. Now before I call someone for you, please leave this office!"

With that he hands her the datapad. On it is written :

Now I will insult you. Are you mad? Here? Where eyes and ears permeate every room and corridor? If you are truly interested in such an arrangement you will meet with one of my hands in the outer systems. You will deal with him and never directly to me. I will say I am interested in the deal but it is never safe to discuss such business here. My man will contact you soon.

Luciana frowns at the man's silence for some time, and then glares at him as he speaks to her as if chastising her for her action. "I was careful enough, and yet he refuses? We Medici have other...persuasive methods to deal with rejection." she mentally laughs at her notion, but gets up, and hisses back at Alexios in a the lowest tone possible for her. "I do so apologize for wasting your time, Lord Treasurer." The man can clearly detect a hint of malice in her voice as well, as she quickly snatches the datapad and pauses to stare at it, as if to throw it on the ground or back at the Lord Treasurer, but simply forcefully hands it to one of her escort who peeks at it while Lady Medici storms off, and nods to the Lord Treasurer before shutting the door and sliding the datapad back under it before leaving with the other man to find Luciana before she does anything that would attract media attention.

Before attending the Grand Assembly, Viggo decides to pay a visit to the Lord Treasurer

The Guards allow Lord Viggo entry. Alexios is on a datapad looking over profits from both his home system and that of the empire. He could not just leave all the work in the hands of his young sons....

He raises his eyes to look at Viggo for one instance before lowering back down to his datapad. "Lord Viggo, what perchance brings you to my offices...?"

[Pinkerton]

Alexios placed down his datapad with a sigh and looked straight at the man, "We are alone in this room, now does that count for eyes and ears?...I would not be so sure. If this pertains to...construction material. Then this is really not the place. "
