Character Rules
Sounds good. Based on anything?
Seems interesting, i'm in
Veritas Temporis Filia
This is based on the LotR lore about the fall of Numenor. In the game you'll play as Numenorean who escapes to ME to form realms.
500 years of age is a bit longish with regards to the timeframe, but interesting nevertheless, what rules? *slightly intrigued*
I am probably gonna pass on this, but I need to do a correction.
M, the general lifespan of a Numenorean is 200 years. The Line of Elros, the first King of Numenor, was 400 years.

The oldest King of Numenor, Tar-Atanamir, was 421 years old. The last King who was close to 400 years was Tar-Telemmaitë (390 years old). After Tar-Telemmaitë, the lifespan began to decline for the royal house of Elros. The royal bloodline averaged around 200 - 270 years of age till the fall of Numenor.

When the Numenoreans came to live on Middle-Earth, the Kings of Arnor and Gondor lived between 200 - 300 years old. With a few Kings living beyond 300 years (such as Elendil who was 322 years old when he died).
Never was there a lifespan of 500 years.

I'm definitely in, but I think the game ought to be based in Numenor prior to the Fall.
Also, that's a really weird map. I had always assumed that Beleriand was west of present-day Eriador, hence the Blue Mountains as the boundary. Reading the books, it's the most logical conclusion. However, in that map Beleriand is north, along with the Red Mountains and Sea of Helcar, which ought to be way farther south, as the Sea of Helcar would later shrink to become the Sea of Rhun. It also really doesn't make sense that Beleriand would be north anyway, as Forodwaith is directly north of Middle-earth, and Forodwaith is so frickin' cold because that's where Angband and Utumno are (well at least that direction). Additionally, there are records of Numenorian exploration south of Far Harad and colonies established in geographical areas which on that map don't exist and are simply water. Also, the second map's link is broken, comes up as something in a foreign language.
Anyway, aside from map oddities, and what LM said above, sounds awesome.
I am such a NERD upon rereading that.
You are correct. The map M is using is distorted. The Blue Mountains, or Ered Luin, form the eastern boundary of what was once Beleriand and should be directly west of Lindon and the Shire. All in all, the map is distorted in many places, with some regions reshaped and re-sized randomly.
This is a more accurate portrayal of Beleriand and what was lost during the War of Wrath;
It's quite interesting that Dorthonion, which is a rather interesting place, is now an island.

Man, I love the Silmarillion and the Houses of the Edain.
Playing as the Edain, wandering through Middle Earth and Beleriand.. I'd play theout of that.

We should make that game then. I'm definitely in. We could play as founders of the houses of the Edain and lead our houses against Melko.
We could start somewhere in the east (I don't recall where Men first awoke), and then just wander west, exploring things and coming across obstacles.
We'd start out like in what is now Rhovanion maybe (as ancestors of the first men?), and move westwards.
Eventually we'll come across the Elves and Melkor.
We could make it pretty 'fictionalized' too, as in events are little different here and there, maybe even changing characters and rulers.
That way we have our own creative license.
Let's see what M thinks, though.
I think those are good ideas, though I foresee a split in playerbase if anyone joins Melko instead of continuing on West.
I think that's how the first Easterlings came about; they were 1 or 2 tribes that came after the Edain and were swayed by Melkor.
Melkor is in Angband though, so either way, we'd all end up in Beleriand.
What about having one custom house that exists separate from the lore ones, and we're all a part of it?
Eh, I think I'd prefer to go with player-made houses replacing the lore ones, but that might be cool too. I don't know if we have a united enough player base to play as one "clan" though.
The map M posted seems rather strange. I don't think Tolkien ever mapped out Valinor, and the mapmaker got Númenor's shape wrong.
If we're going to have a Middle-earth RPG, why not set it during the Fourth Age? There are few restrictions, and we could take some stuff from the 'New Shadow' manuscript if we wanted a plot.
It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

Adunabar and Gondor are quite interesting, yes.
A dualistic RPG, then?
Have to agree with LM, that sounds very interesting. Although is dividing the playerbase between two Kingdoms a good idea? I think GSTK tried that once and it failed.
Adunabar was created in revolt though.
I think it was a brother against brother type thing, the leader of Adunabar simply broke off from Gondor in a dispute.
