Default (Help) Diff between dismounted attack/def & normal att/deff?

I need help with the land_units table, specifically for the DEI mod...

Why are the values for dismounted charge bonus/melee attack/melee defense different to the charge bonus/melee attack/deff and how are they used in game?

It sounds like it should be obvious but looking through stats I cannot understated the logic behind the values?

Do infantry ever use both these stats or just one column and which one? Same for cavalry units?

    Cheers

Infantry never use the dismounted column, cavalry only use it when not mounted (as expected).

Melee attack: chance to hit the enemy in melee
Melee defense: chance to parry/evade/block attacks in melee
Charge attack: gets added to the melee attack when charging
The dismounted values are reserved for cavalry (which since Empire can dismount in order to fight on foot).
Infantry never uses the dismounted values so they should be empty.
