    Default Non-battle fatigue

Is there a specific formular on how non-battle fatigue is working? We all know that soldiers become tired if they walk up a hill or mountain. But I noticed that my Velites - who are not supposed to get tired being lightly armoured - were already winded when my Polybian Cohorts and Triarii where not even warmed-up. There was no running, only walking of the entire force at the same ground. Similar question: I noticed as well that within the same troop category - let's take our Polybians again - different cohorts are getting tired differently. That one is aready exhausted while the other one only warmed-up - again, walking side by side on the same ground. I always belived it has do to with experience, but it has apparently not. At least as far as I can tell. Is there any explanation or is it purely random?
Thanks in advance for any reply!

Guard mode can maintain stamina much better.
I also noticed that certain units sometimes start running if you group them.
They try to keep their formation by speeding up or slowing down.

I know that Guard mode preserves stamina, but I never used it while the units were marching.... And I mean marching = walking, not running. But thanks, I will see if that works...

You might not notice but even when "walking", individual solders might start running to keep the formation tidy. They run a bit, slow down, then the formation messes up and they run to correct it. In the end they get tired.

Yes, I see that some of them start running sometimes while marching but I did not assume that this would influence the stamina of the entire unit. Thanks for the hint!

Some units have a higher stamina rating.

I believe this means that they take longer to tire.
