Yep! More endless battles between Romans and Celts! ^.^

Claudius invaded Britannia simply as a propaganda coup (while Caesar did the same in Gaul, it set a spiral of events that lead to the Roman Civil War). I would rather see something of consequence like Trajan's invasion of Dacia. The Dacians had formed alliances with the Roxolani and Bastarnae and constantly threatened the Roman position south of the Danube. Caesar was assassinated while planning for an invasion, Domitian fought them but accepted a humiliating peace, and it took Trajan two wars to finally defeat their king. Even after then, most of Dacia remained unconquered and the Roman position north of the Danube remained extremely tenuous leading to the Romans building castrae all over the place. After a century of continued fighting with the Carpi, Costobocii, Izyages, Bastarnae, and Roxolani, the arrival of the Goths made the Romans finally realize that enough is enough and for the first time in history, they were forced to withdraw from a province that they had made a serious effort to settle and colonize.

I'm a bit biased because I live in Romania but yeah cmon, it's a great story for an Imperial Era campaign.

Boudica's revolt can be summed up in a single historical battle.
Finally some juice on what actually happened. I had been putting off researching it because contrary to Mitch's magic 8 ball, I was almost sure it'd be next.

Maybe a Historical Battle DLC? I've done all of them on normal, sometimes on the first try, except for Cannae and Carthago.

This thread has some detail on all of them: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...l-battle-means
It seems that the Hannibal DLC would originally have come with 4 battles not 2, the extra 2 would have been the Silarus and Capua

I really hope if they do this DLC, they have some form of council of Druids or something involving them. The druids were a huge part of Britannic society so to leave that out would be rather sad.

Google tells me they are battles fought by the Romans against Pontus in 47bc and Macedon in 197bc respectively.

EDIT: Ah I see you too can use google.

Apparently, it was this one, not Alesia for which Caesar became known for the quote to Amantius "Veni, Vidi, Vici!"

What factions would be introduced into such a campaign? and was there actually any real cultural difference between the continental celts and the britons?

There would have been cultural differences even between the various different celts in Britain.

CA isn't dumb enough to make another DLC focusing on Rome vs Celts.

Lets get Alexander in here, another Rome based DLC would be really boring. They already have 2 very famous generals of the ancient world now lets get Alexander.

The genocidal wacko? No thanks. Barbarians invasion 2 would be nice though.

Alexander spoke of the brotherhood of man and attempted to incorporate Persians into his army (even if for practical reasons). He generally left the local institutions intact and only occasionally gave his men free reign.

By contrast, Caesar fought a vicious campaign of destruction in Gaul where he often massacred women and children. The campaign suggested here, especially the suppression of Boudica's revolt, featured heavy doses of butchery. It only occurred because of Roman brutality (Boudica and her daughters were raped by the Romans for no real purpose).

Regardless, the Alexander campaign for R1 was a mess, and a real campaign would offer a more unique challenge than anything discussed in these threads besides maybe the Roman civil wars.

From the very start of the campaign, the Illyrians/Thracians/Greeks would be in revolt. You'd be at war with Sparta and have a massive enemy to conquer that would drastically outnumber you. But it would require more work from CA, so I doubt we'll get it.

The first alexander was a joke.

The map was so small and too few regions. It was more like a story told in game format.

If CA did an Alexander II it would take a lot of work and in their own confession it is a lot of work to create a campaign map and I doubt they would create and accurate map from Illyria and greece to Persia and the borders of India with hundreds of regions. There is the potential for hundreds of regions in just that area. Though I doubt they would. Prob 5 regions for Greece and Illyria. Or maybe one large region marking Greece.
