Next DLC: Conquest of Britain?

Everytime a DLC is approaching for this game one finds new models to be added with a previous patch.

The Syrian Elephant textures and tower models were added before the Beasts of War DLC.
Iberian Tunics were added before the Hannibal DLC.
And some Celtic stuff I forgot about was added before CiG.

So I always search through the files to find models or textures that are not used in the game after each and every patch.

And this is what I found with the patch 12 beta:

I guess this means that the next DLC will be either a "Conquest of Britain" expantion, or a unit ack that includes a new Britain cav unit.

Non of the Britanic units currently in the game use it.

Are you sure? That patch beta did some changes to the units diversity and added some stuff. I would double check, I can see it either way though.

I am very sure.

This new horse mask model is not used by any unit in the game.

So you can expect an expantion of the Britanic unit roster through DLC or patch in the near future.

Nope. Those have a different model with bigger horns, which are not part of a mask, but simply strapped onto the horse head with leather straps.

A Briton Culture DLC (or Campaign) is definitely coming. The Battle of Watling Street is in the game files and there is concept art of a female character who looks like she could be Boudica. There is a pattern of Rome 2's DLC campaigns focusing on larger than life personalities (Caesar, Vercingetorix, Hannibal, and Scipio).

I for one am curious to see how CA will try to sell three new Briton factions to their audience.

This confirms it in my opinion. The next DLC is either an Iceni unit expansion or a mini campaign about the Boudicca rebellion. Watling St will be its historical battle.

The data files show that there will be a "Conquest of Britain" expantion DLC.

A Boudecia general is in the db files aswell as a new historical battle: "Battle of Wattling Street".

Expect it to be officialy announced when patch 12 goes live.

It seems like we've already covered the Roman and Gallic conflicts pretty well in Caesar in Gaul. Why have this? What target audience does a Britannia campaign appeal to?

There is an island in the North sea called Britain.

Maybe you have heard of that place.

Thats to whom it will appeal most to.

And since the developers are from that place, I am not suprised.

I am actualy looking forward to this dlc.

I just don't see it as being for as wide a target audience as CIG or HATG. To each their own though. I suppose if the other DLCs sold well enough CA can do whatever it pleases.

They dont make DLC so a specific country enjoys it. It's a game,not a nationalist competition.

Fair enought.

Then lat me simply put it like this: It is an interesting time period and certainly an interesting era to have a game set in.

And those who dont like it can simply chose to not buy it.

This should be very interesting, whilst I'm loving the "Roman Historical Campaign DLCs" I would like to see campaign DLCs focused elsewhere.

Agreed...CA does a really bad job of thinking outside of the box. The Saka/Yuezhi invasion of Baktra/India, the Celtic invasion of the Balkans/Anatolia, and Trajan's Dacian wars would make me go WOW far more than another Roman campaign based in Western Europe.

While I'm sure that a Boudica DLC would be fun to play, probably the only way I would buy it is if they made Massalia a playable faction in the main campaign. Pytheas did "discover" Britannia so it would kinda fit.
