[CK2] [Proposal] Age of Absolutism
So folks, I've always looked at CKII and at ETW and desired a cross between them. Now that's completely impossible, however I still really want a CKII game set in the 1700s era of ETW. Looking through history, there are so many dynastic struggles and wars of succession that the era is begging for a CKII mod for it, yet so far as I know there isn't one for any era past that of vanilla CKII. I know vaguely how to do some of the text editing parts of CKII and want to flex my almost nonexistent modding muscles. In order to make this happen, though, I need:
Text editors or tutorials to tell me what I'm doing
A mapper, if we ever intend to include the Americas
2d Artist (for flags and pips and such)
Modeler? I assume strat unit models can be replaced
Historians, especially for Southern and Eastern Europe
Idea generators who know CKII and its limitations and, knowing them, can propose ideas to me
Interested folks who are going to support this!
To begin with, I'd like to make a bookmark for 1700. Then I'd like to go back in time and make one for 1600, then perhaps for the 1790s (France split between King and "Republic", Wars of the Coalition, etc.) and maybe even the Napoleonic Wars.

1600 - early 1800's?
That's a short CK2 game.
You should note that CK2 cannot handle a map as large as EU4 (I think).
It might have to do with the fact that CK2 has all the hundreds of characters and their histories.
Regardless, you have my attention, but that doesn't count for much of anything at the moment.

Re: [Proposal] Age of Absolutism
Ideally, I could eventually find a way to make "down time" more eventful so that years don't shoot by like they do in Vanilla.

That's true. Sometimes a century is all you get through in CK2, anyways.

Re: [Proposal] Age of Absolutism
I find that I spend nearly all my CKII time at max speed (even wars), and really I think I should be lowering speed way more than I am.

Re: [Proposal] Age of Absolutism
How would you change the military?
Would there still be levies? Larger retinues?

Re: [Proposal] Age of Absolutism
CK2 mechanics do not support such era. It would be getting boring as well, considering that most of the lands were actually held by the monarchs in this period.

Re: [Proposal] Age of Absolutism
Would this include the Devlet-i Aliyye?

Demesne size would be vastly increased, hence the "age of absolutism" moniker. Regarding military, I intended for retinues to be the primary armies for the game, and reduce the amount of the cap they take up. Levies will be reduced to almost nothing to represent militias. @Nesimi: English? No clue what that is.

I think he means the Ottomans.

Ah, alright. Well, I'm really not familiar at all with the history of the Ottoman Empire, they're one of the big blind spots of my historical knowledge. They will definitely exist, but unless I can get a good researcher to tell me what to do with them, they probably won't get a ton of attention, as I have no idea what their historical situation was in 1700.
