Bugs
-unavoidable crash when trying to fight battles in Ashinon (might apply to other custom settlements. Reloading saves doesn’t work)
- Can’t increase religion in wylanodorf. can only build statue of goddesses instead of goddess and deity statue. Basically there’s no way to get a city, that does not have the player faction's religion, to the 25% requirement so that a building can be constructed to help convert the city
-Aidaidorf contains a spirit temple but the temple doesn’t give provide a 1% religion growth bonus like it should
-Hylians had armies that only contained siege weapons. Think because their priority is set too high? There’s a submod thread that has a fix for this but I forgot which one ;/
-Armor seems to be almost useless and when generals spawn they are not equipped with armor upgrades (in vanilla m2tw generals had the third level of armor)
-generals have marauder bodyguards, only heroes have proper bodyguards (gerudodorf); not sure if this is bug or intended, but marauders are rly weak for a bodyguard unit
--No free unit upkeep even though the settlement could produce the garrisoned units and the settlement provided unit upkeep slots (most likely bug from
americas)
-Also played Hylian campaign for a few turns. Bigjaro and Kakariko riot after turn 1 even though public order > 100%
-ice arrows do so much damage to siege towers that i'm guessing its a bug, basically 25% damage per arrow
-2 music tracks play during loading screen
“Big Picture” Observations
-The economy is insane, factions basically have infinite wealth (for example gorons had 35000 by turn 12), this is because 1) unit upkeep is basically zero 2) Buildings and units are incredibly cheap
-Movement points/ranges are way too high, armies can basically move halfway across the map in a turn (might be a timescale issue?)
-Boiling oil is gamebreaking and is terrible for the game- the AI can't avoid it and its troops get completely annihilated bc they try to enter thru the main gate; the player, however, can avoid it w/ siege towers/ladders/etc. This makes defending some settlements laughably easy bc of this & bc boiling oil is so powerful
-Siege weapons are too powerful, they were op in vanilla but they’re even crazier in htw. Op siege weapons suck the strategy out of attacking/defending settlements (just blast 10 holes in the walls...) and devalue melee combat which is the focus of Zelda games. Siege weapons just massacre foot soldiers and turn battles into shootouts…until the economy issue is resolved I’d suggest increasing the build time of the units/siege factories and/or the recruitment rate since increasing the cost won’t do much
-In the future, might want to include a garrison script (see TATW) for the AI to make the game more challenging, since AI doesn’t defend its settlements well
Minor things
- Y no ‘flash own/enemy units’ button ;/
-cant issue movement orders outside movement range (most likely bug from
americas)
-By the time ganondorf arrives, the game is basically over: turn 100 is too late, maybe think about turn 50 or 75 (if this is changed already nvm, just basing this on previous playthroughs)
-For the biggest, baddest villain in the Hyrule universe, ganondorf is pretty weak. He also has the ‘vulnerable to missiles’ trait
-I’d like if the ‘Gerudo Fortress’ music was added
-The HTW config doesn’t allow the game to be windowed. It’d be nice if it was set to “windowed = true
borderless_window = true” which makes it a lot easier to alt/tab out of the game
-Bronze knuckles don’t have the ‘well-armored’ trait (wat…)
-Twinovra’s unit is very small (8 units w/ ‘normal’ unit size) while other gerudo heroes have about 30)
-Personally I’m not a fan of ganondorf’s mask (I think his ocarina look is the best/most badass)
-no ‘faction relationship’ modifiers that improve/worsen factions’ feelings about each other in descr.strat
