Default Waco 2.0 imminent: Nevada burger farmer threatens 'range war' against federales

    http://abcnews.go.com/Business/nevad...ry?id=23225314

This could be awesome. Some burger farmer doesn't want the government telling where he can and can't let his crops graze, and has called militias to help defend him against the Bureau of Land Management.

They have come, bearing the 2nd amendment. Some believe this is about something bigger than grazing rights.

    Godspeed, burger farmer, godspeed.

I saw this on Encyclopedia Dramatica yesterday. Yeah, not particularly interesting, and it won't be "another Waco."

You'd be surprised how quick some of the people there get their news.

This interested me. The Bureau of Land Management owns these huge tracts of land in Nevada. Farmers are saying that for nearly a century, they've had an easement to let cattle go through there, the US government says no, has been calling in the troops pretty heavily, trucking cattle away, arresting farmers.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of it, it's a bad look arresting ranchers. And, how many cattle farmers would there even be there - what does the Federal government do with this land? As far as I can tell, nothing, except patrol it like the Lord of the Manor. Its a good opportunity to say, we've looked into this, and we've decided to give them a right of way for a certain amount of money.

Probably keep it from being overgrazed by cattle since there is a big drought going on in Nevada and states around it. Probably other reasons, too but that just seems like the most obvious one.

Grazing fees have only one purpose, revenue. Ranchers have been grazing on these public lands for many decades before the authorities started trying to close it off. Some of that public land was closed off because of a threatened tortoise. He can't exactly fence in his whole property nor can he prevent all the cattle from entering public land so yeah, this is a massive dick move by the Bureau of Land Management. Many of the people working for that bureau don't understand that their tactics of driving herds at a running pace (by using helicopters diving at them) during the hot season when the spring newborn calves struggle to keep up its just going to end up with the animals dying from exhaustion. Encircling a private property with anywhere between 100 - 200 heavily armed agents is pathetic. They are laying siege to this guy all because he can't control where his animals go.

I find it hard to respect anyone who talks about himself as if he's a modern George Washington.

A revolution over grazing rights seems like a laughable entry in the history books.

Gotta love crazy "Patriot" militia with delusions of grandeur. I say we get the Illuminati to send in the black helicopters and intern the militiamen in FEMA reassignment camps. They'll only be able to drink fluoridated water and the Jewish conspirators will turn them into drones! Muahahahaha!

Umm the Feds won in court and its their land. The funny thing is if the government sold off the land rancher joker would have even less access to the land. Almost all Federal land use fees and rules are massively below market value - the cost to rent federal lands in the real market would make the militia yahoo federal imperialism wacko's cry (or the businesses with say mining rights or oil leases etc)
