Aibak is one of the most prominent, loyal and favorite servants of the now dead Muhammad of Ghur, an able commander and soldier that has long fought in his master's name, with extensive campaigns on Northern Indian soil; submitting many of those who dared to oppose the Ghurid sultan, specially the lands around Delhi. In later years he has rose to be one of the most prominent Mamluks in Muhammad service, one of the few that can boast to have powers equal or similar to a Malik.
Aibak is a trully pious and devoted man, in fact is liberality with the poor and widows is so well-known that has earned him the unofficial name of Lakh Buksh, the "Lakh/Alm giver". He is know to be a wise and cultured man, a scholar of sorts in poetry, literature and Persian culture, even more he is said to protect many artists. However he has not an impressive physique; is rather short, but slender, with aquiline nose, protruding chin and salt-cropped beard, long to the chest, and piercing eyes, something that makes him resemble a bird of prey.
