    Default Slingers are overpowered

    How can I tone down their stats and amount of ammo (like 4 reloading max will be fine imo)
    When besieging enemy´s minor settlements, AI is usually stupid enough and they just stand there allowing you to kill them. Playing on VH I can cause them much bigger casualty with my levy slingers/archers than with my elite melee units.

    I usually end up spamming slingers/archers armies

    There's nothing wrong with slinger balance in EB. You can't make any judgment on balance based on playing VH battle difficulty. The reason your missile troops are causing the majority of casualties is because 1) the AI is stupid no matter what the difficulty level, and 2) because on VH battles, every enemy unit gets additional buffs that make them very hard to break in melee.

    If you want to change units for your own copy of the game, change the "export_descr_unit" file in the "single player EDU backup" folder. Remember to make a backup of that file before you change it, in case anything goes awry.

    I changed the stats of one unit in EB\sp game edu backup\common\export_descr_unit (using Alex.exe), but there are no changes in custom battles

    Do these changes take effect in single player campaign only?

    First off, slingers are not overpowered at all. AI is just stupid enough to allow you to fire freely. Second, editing sp game edu backup is not going to make changes. Look for export_descr_unit in EB and there should two of them. One in sp game edu backup and the other is the actual file. You wanna edit the actual file not one in spu game edu backup.

    IMO the problem with slingers in EB is not their stats, but the fact that their unit size is too big. Slinger units should be a lot smaller than archer units. They were historically because the flatter trajectory of slingshots meant that slingers could not be packed as many ranks deep as archers, who could safely loose arrows in high arching trajectories over the heads of the forward ranks.

    I changed the unit size of all slingers from 30 men to 20 men in the EDU. Bringing it down from 120 men to 80 men in Huge unit size. That reduced the unit's kill ratio to a more reasonable level for me. And I always deploy my slingers so that their formation is only 2 ranks deep.

    I didn't change the unit costs because IMO slinging is harder and takes longer to learn than archery.

    that's actually a good idea, can I take it for my mod?

    I don't know what kind of mod you use, but my EB (default one) slingers have less men than archers. On large scale, it would be 60 slingers vs 80 archers. I don't see any problem with that.

    Sorry - I was thinking of the basic Greek toxotoi archers, which have only 120 men on Huge (60 on large).

    And I like having slinger units that are only half the size of the archer units, for the reason I mentioned.

    I think it's OK to do mid-campaign. Existing slinger units for all factions on the map will keep however men they had before, and newly-recruited slinger units will be at the new manpower limit.

    existing units will retain their number of men until they drop under the number of the new unit,
    then you can retrain them, and they'll be at the new-units quota
