Old & Fresh Install Crash To Desktop With A Small Blank Error Box

My ME2K game stopped working. I am hoping somebody could tell me some possible causes. I clicked the .EXE to start it up and after a few seconds it CTD with a small blank white error box. It never reaches the intro videos, the splash screens or the menu. I click the exe and the background image appears, the hourglass spins for a few seconds, then it CTD like I mentioned above.

I completely uninstalled and re-installed it twice, and the fresh installs do the same exact thing. The weird thing is, ME2 works just fine, but ME2K is what will not work.

Any guesses what might cause this type of problem? I would greatly appreciate any help.

What version of Windows?

I have the same problem and I am using the Gold verion (DvD) and running on windows 7 64bit. Edited the Sega/Total War folder to give full security to users as well. Another thing is when I press Launcher.exe instead of Kingdoms.exe I get a Microsoft Net framework error. Original Medivieal2.exe works just fine tho.

The launcher was a piece of crap when released with the 1.2 patch. The code has not changed a bit. Mine's deleted and in I changed it in the Target to medieval2.exe.

Kingdoms.exe needs a Kingdoms campaign or a mod based on a Kingdoms campaign to work. It is not a standalone .exe.

Alright that solved my problem, thanks alot mate. Now I just have to figure out how to get the mod Call of Warhammer to work.. le sigh

Delete both MdeivalII Total War folders assuming you installed in the default folder with the UAC enabled?
Runa good free registry Cleaner like Ccleaner after deleting them?
Disable the UAC?
Try a fresh install outside Program Files and Program Files (x86)?
