    Default battlefield assassins and Aventuriers

I've just checked out the new units preview and found two formations I've never heard about. The first one is a unit of french archer/swordman called Aventuriers
If you ever heard of this unit could you tell me when or where it's been used of course if it's not fantasy unit.
Second one is more "mysterious" to me - it's from hungarian rooster unit called Battlefield Assassins
from it's description you can learn they were something like izmails assassin from Alamut and they were devoted to find and kill turkish sultans during battles?. Fantasy or not?

Some history some fantasy. Before Battle of Mohacs a group of Hungarian Knights had sworn an oath to kill Suleyman I Magnificent or to be killed. and they failed and killed. That's all.

May be their rooster of units was too poor and they had to invent something ...

Yes exactly, i believe they formed a one time hit Knightly Order.

    The Aventurier... Hm...

My theory is that they are Gascon Infantrymen of France. Historical
Gascons fought in the manner of swordsmen, or as armoured longbowmen.

I think you might be right but it theirs description stands they were "highly" patriotic and always respond for call of duty in the name of "France". I'm confused right now because I thought Gascons mostly fought for kings of England but not sure.

Alright, I'm new to these forums but I'll see if I can be of some use.

There may not have been a group of soldiers called battlefield assassins in the hungarian army, but I believe (for reasons others have already discussed) that they are rooted firmly enough in reality to not be considered a fantasy unit. After all, they did act essentially as thier namesake implies.

As for aventuriers, CA have gone straight to the history books for this one. Aventuriers, or "Adventurers" to give the english meaning, did indeed serve in the French army. They were a particular band of mercenaries, usually armed with crossbows. The mercenaries themselves were of French background, and found themselves in the employ of the french army to support proffessional troops and militias. It should be noted that the French practiced the act of hiring French mercenaries quite frequently once the traditional fuedal structure of the armies had been replaced.

I hope that helps to clear some things up

Yes, but the "Gascons" i'm talking about are the ones from Italian Wars. Anyways i still think it is a HIGHLY fictional unit. Take a look at their armour, it's obviously the one used in Late XV/Early XVI. Note also the use of Burgonet.
