Default so I finally got my parts but....

So I finally got my parts I ordered and I have a couple of issues.

issue #1 is the constant POST freezing. this is quite annoying, 4/5 times i cannot even get to the windwos boot screen. Now I have figured that a faulty BIOS is most likely to blame here, so as soon as I can source a floppy drive, im going to update the bios (hopefully it doesnt wreck the damn system)

issue #2 on the odd chance i do get the system to boot I get this message from winXP

\i386\Ntkrnlmp.exe Could Not Be Loaded. The Error Code Is 4

any insight would be helpful, but im not going to touch it again until tomorrow after work, as im very tired atm

    I have a DFI NF590 Athlon X2 4600+ EVGA Geforce 7900GTO and OCZ PC-6400 Gold

Can you get into windows at all? if so try reinstalling the motherboard drivers, Is this on a old windows partiton? I think you need to reformat the harddrive when you add that amount of hardware to avoid conflicts with old driver fragments on the registry.

Im not adding hardware, this is a new system.

Its a blank hard drive, there is nothing installed on it as of yet. I think the error I was getting probably refers to having to use the SATA drivers disk when it says "press f6 to install 3rd party drivers blah blah" it zips by too fast.

well damn, it was the memory. One stick was defective, so I have to RMA the whole package (bought a dual chanel kit), hopefully i get it by the end of next week. I thought they were supposed to test these things before they put them in the kit. I know its the ram as when I booted the sys up with one stick (the non defective one) it worked fine, and booted right into the windows setup. and the other stick would not even POST. Am i ever glad i spent my points on a VIP membership.

Wow, that sucks man. The chances of that....

My confidence in OCZ is quite shaken by this, especially when this is supposed to be their "hand tested" high end memory.

Thats what I thought aswell. But as it stood, it would boot with one stick, but not the other. Conclusion, faulty stick.

I tried it in slot 1, where the other one was working fine, and it did not POST.

Upon scouring the NCIX customer reviews, it appears that I am not the only one who has had to get these replaced.

OCZ is still tops in my books. I have had two sticks of their top quality stuff go on me, but they replaced it faster than goose poop off a greased shovel. You just can't find good customer service like that...

What!? That's just scary, I don't think memory is ment to fail that much. No matter now good their customer service is, if their memory fail all the time why should I go through the trouble of sending it back to them?

I never had a stick of memory that failed on me... yet.
