    Default [Sub Mod] Faster Battles

    I've seen many people asking for faster battles submod for DeI and since no one has decide to make it I did one and please bear in mind that I don't like quick battles. Actually I love the battle speed that DeI brings to the table so if you find that with this submod battles are to quick or that there is no change at all please report your findings here because I don't have the time available for proper extended testings nor the will to fight battles quick as this. I know it sounds weird but I only did this mod for the community.

    Test version with even more weapon damage:


    Please report your findings here. Also updates might be slow at times because of my work schedule.

    Changes:
    - Increased weapons damage.
    - Edited rules table for melee hit percentage

    I found that the best way to speed or prolong battle is with weapon damage when I was doing something for my custom mod. But since DeI has a more dynamic system I might make more changes in the future.

    Thanks Denco, I'l give it a go.
    Just a quick question though, in what way have the battles been sped up? morale lowered? Hp lowered? Stat increase? all of the above, or something I left out?

    It doesn't work for me. I loaded your mod in mod manager but, everything's the same.

    Make sure it's load order is above DeI mod. Are you using Mitch's mod manager or official one?

    Yes, i'm using Mitch's mod manager, and your mod is loaded above D.E.I. mod.

    What do you mean by nothing. Do you not see increased weapon damage in the UI or do the battles last the same time as in vanilla DeI. Can you give me an example on how you test it?

    I mean, everything is the same as before. I tried custom battles. New campaign. Battles last the same.
    Weapon damage hasn't changed.

    I think the best thing would be to increase the death animations instead of trying to increase the speed of battles it would be far greater to see the bloody melee system in action IMO.

    1. Increase death animations ?
    2. Speed up battles slightly ?
    3. Possible blood sub mod ?
    4.

    Please reply to me i hate the slow boring battles in DEI!.

    1. Its very easy to do. Load DeI pack with PFM. Inside db table there is kv_rules table. Search for melee_formed_vs_formed_matched_combat_percentage and melee_formed_vs_free_matched_combat_percentage and increase both to 100.

    2. The speed of battles is not yet final but its very hard to do since DeI has changed everything ( and I mean everything ) when it comes to combat. But for the test I've done the battle that would last for 10 to 13 minutes with DeI which lasted only 6 minutes with my submod.

    3. There is an excellent mod for that.

    kudos to you for making the submod that some people were demanding


    I just don't understand how people download a mod like DeI that is historically-oriented, but 10-15 minute battles are too long for them....

    The reasons for me are few, the battles are short because of the low morale threshold, the actual combat though is slow, I do like to watch the men fighting, but I also like to see them dying.
    Another reason is because I play only head to head campaigns, and drawn out battles can take a long time to finish a campaign, sure against the AI it is easy to flank and break their morale, being as stupid as it is, but it's not so easy against another player, so your 10-15 minute battles do not apply to me.

    This is a must mod for me. My last battle took 50 minutes to finish 7500 vs 8500 on open field.

    So basically if you wanted to make battles faster and have a lot more death animations you would have to spend a lot of time adjusting your mod to DEI ?. Has the DEI team considered working with you to make a more compatible version for the official release ?.

    I'm afraid this might be out of my reach because I have a lot of other work on my plate and making a perfect version would require me to edit every single unit stats individual. Something that DeI team had to make for which we should be very happy.

    Right now I am trying to achieve the desire effect with the most simple thing that can be. Of course if the mod turns out to be to unbalanced I might scrap it completely.

    UPDATE: New test version up with which increases battle speed even more. It might be to fast now so please let me know.

    Could you tell me i am looking to have my soldiers die very fast and the death animations truly intense and blood everywhere how would i edit the tables to make this happen i tried putting the tables you said previous to 100 it doe snot seem to make a big difference ?.

    The lines I told you to edit was to increase 1 on 1 combat for which you will in return get more death animations. For soldiers to die more quickly you have two options.

    1. Increase weapon damage even more or you could even try editing individual units with more melee attack and melee defense ( but that can be very thiresome work )

    2. In the dei_kv_rules table find next three options.

    Example bellow:
    melee_hit_chance_base 80
    melee_hit_chance_max 100
    melee_hit_chance_min 50

    You should now have soldiers dying more quickly when fighting. Also always make sure to run your or any other submod for DeI above it in your launcher load order.

    Thank you i will now edit the values in PFM and try and mix some things up maybe a mod could come from it who knows will play a around with it. Thank you for helping me i tested your new version i cants eem to see any difference will continue to test.
