    Default Impossible to kill Hannibal?

I attacked hannibal after an autobattle. In this new battle he was alone with only 2 elephants. I killed one of them really fast, but then when attacking hannibal's elephant with about 1000 javelins from 8 units of javelin units, and 3 units of spear men, pluss catapult fire he still didnt die. He just looked like a hedgehog. He didnt even flee.

    Is this a bug?

I read that the faction leaders in HatG are unkillable, only wounded.

    Hannibals love swiftness?

But srsly, Barca is not a surname, nor was he ever given the same nickname as his father.

Have you even tried to throw torches or using bee onagers against him? If this is still not working I seems to be a bug.

He's sworn to the steel and fire not to die before he conquers Rome, so technically you need to use a spell on his vow first then try the conventional manslaughter techniques. piece of cake.

I actually rather like this bug with Hannibal. It means when he reaches the gates of a Roman settlement he'll actually be able to burn them down and get inside the settlement

I figured I'd go ahead and win this thread. This man, Malchio, is my arch-nemesis who tried to assassinate my faction leader and went through a whole soap opera before rebelling with the Magonid Adirim btw.

AlWamar has the right idea. Try using the toches, your soldiers get an inifinite amount of them.

Yes yes yse we all know. But it's commonly used to distinguish that you are specifically talking about Hamilcar Barca's son. It's really not that big of a deal that someone uses it. The vast majority of the people in the world when you tell them Hannibal think of Anthony Hopkins eating someones face off.

Exactly. Who is Count Lecter's son. Not altogether that unpopular of a name at the time.

    Hannibal (barca) didn't deserve that...

I don't think a lot of people actually know, nor do I think it is a common (mis)use of the name; very few scholarly material I have read on the subject ever address Hannibal with his father's epithet, since you know, they know that would be incorrect, and others are either knowledgeable enough not to start mistaking Hannibal with other Hannibals of Carthage, let alone Hannibal with Mr Lector (who mixes up discussion of history with discussions about a fictional movie character anyways?) or they learn pretty quickly when corrected, even if they disliked being identified as wrong.
As Dr. Goebbels once said, tell a lie enough times and it becomes truth. So unless you believe truth is ultimately irrelevant (and no there is no subjectivity here, any reasoning behind Carthaginians having the same naming convention as modern Westerners has no real basis. Next thing you know people believe that US Marines go into battle wearing their dress blues because that's a common image of them.
In any case, hard fact is that using Barca after Hannibal is incorrect in all things considered (there is literally no good reason or jsutification other than carrying on a mistake, hence the Goebbels reference) and therefore ought not to be done. If anyone asks you correct them, don't add fake nonsense, it's neither correct nor justifiable, that's how we end up getting thread tangents like this one.

I can only assume you're trying to provide a reason to continue using Barca as Hannibal's surname using the above statement, so I can only ask you if you think these people just might happen to lack the brainpower to consider that the name Hannibal might refer to someone else beside Anthony Hopkins's character? And how does adding Barca solve the problem anyway, they'll still ask who the hell you're talking to, heck some of the more hare-brained will still assume you're referring to the cannibal guy. There's ignorance of niche subjects and then there's stupid, you can only fix one, and considering CA has been practically putting themselves onto one side we might as well salvage the situation for everyone else's sake. In the end, someone made the mistake and we're all carrying it forth by continuing to add Barca after Hannibal. True, it's not the same kind of morally wrong as killing someone, but it would be the same kind of wrong when you just say the earth is flat because not everyone's familiar with the science (ok bad example but you get the picture).
ANYWAYS as the guy that started this , I recommnd we just acknowledge this little fact and move on.

Back on topic, I actually don't recall any hard evidence (ie CA statements) about principal characters like Hannibal (or Caesar back in the CiG campaign) characters being unkillable, I will have to sift through all the drival made by CA members and other posters to find out. I just took it as truth (which, of course, is not something one should keep doing), based on long-forgotten remarks on the internet as well as having a "Faction Leader Wounded!" message one time while playing my HatG campaign. That might reinforce my beliefs on how CA handles principle characters, but that doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility that I got lucky and he didn't die on that turn.
On the other hand, being unkillable prevents ragers going all "OMFG my Hannibal Barkas died on turn 5 CA sucks!".

If you think i'm arguing with you then you are Hannibal Barcing up the wrong tree. It's just the way it is though. Ever read a book about Hannibal? When i read Dodge's book on him any person i knew that asked me about it thought it was about the character Anthony Hopkins played.

Well I saw a trickfilm / cartoon / animation or whatever it was when I was young about Hannibal crossing the alps, with his army and elephants and everything ^^ I thought it was astrix and obelix, but it seems not now I'm searching for it. Anyway that made an impression on me, because all I know is that I was very little but I still remember it till today that I saw it
