Hi, I'm about to reload some mods back to MTW2 Kingdoms, and I wanted to explain the importance of defragging. There are so many files that get added to your hard drive, that it can be very corrupted, and result in slowing down the execution of the mod. There are good free programs like Auslogic DiskDefrag that quickly scan across multiple drives to clean them up.

Each day, while your virus program is self-patching itself, it's adding in files that are fragmented since streamed. Each time you watch a streaming video, each mp3 you listen to from the internet, each added in then deleted files, results in a jumbled mess.

Running a good free cleanup program like CCleaner FIRST means that you delete temporary files so they don't have to be defragged. It just saves time by reducing the work for any degrag program.

Some of these package other unnecessary programs, so when installing them, there are opportunities not to add those in.

When adding in multiple mods after a fresh installation of MTW2 Kingdoms, then this compounds all of that fragmentation too. Doing this will get you better frame rates, an important thing when a mod uses very high quality texture files and you're looking for anyway to make the program stagger less.
