Default Date and Takeda UUs being useless

What is the damn point in having no-dachi samurai if the charge always gets interrupted? One of the following always happens: The enemy general (who has done absolutely nothing up until any point, including all the other Total War games) charges them when they're about to hit the back of the enemy line, the enemy is doing some stupid crap where the ashigaru fold out into my samurai during melee when my guys are maneuvering and now my samurai are in the melee, or my personal favorite, when my samurai just stop charging in the rare cases when the other three things don't happen. The only way I CAN hit the enemy is if I charge the flank, and that only kills a couple of rows of dudes.

Also, Takeda. It's rather hard to utilize cavalry when the enemy will somehow successfully pull Yari out of the melee and chase my cavalry around after I flank the first time. I'm not denying how powerful the charge is, it's just nearly impossible to set one or more up when the enemy army is anywhere between 50% and 95% spearmen. The cavalry would be pretty damn vital to survive in Rome or M2 because Takeda are in a terrible position, but their wonderful units keep getting screwed over by the AI being ridiculous.

I'm using Darthmod right now. Not totally sure I like it more than vanilla. This was still an issue in vanilla, though, which is why I'm bringing it up here.

Cavalry is just a really narrow unit type precisely because everything comes with spears. You basically only chase ranged units or charge to break. If you can't break the yaris, don't bother charging or your horses will pay the price.

No-dachi samurai are even worse than cavalry. They occupy almost the exact same strategic niche, yet they're not fast, so flanking takes forever. I don't think I've ever recruited one. On the other hand, Date gets the bulletproof samurai DLC unit, which seems strong assuming they can form the yari square and/or yari wall. I haven't actually tried them but yari ashigaru are amazing even late game precisely because of those formations, especially the square, so I'd imagine toughest armour in game + bullet resistance + yari square = impenetrable fortress.

maybe just keep the balance, i always use my cavalry to attack an arrow unit or just pursue enemy that retreated.
no-dachi, just for charge in short amount of time, use no-dachi for first strikes and then fast help em with katana samurai or yari ashigaru.
