Default No advanced cavalry recruiting. It's been posted twice but no answers ;-)

Hi all, long time no post! I recently installed SS6.3 on a Windows 8.1. 6.3 works fine but 4 tries of installing 6.4 left me frustrated so I am just playing 6.3. I turned off RR, and have the highest level stables available, its 1320AD and still I can only recruit sergeants and feudal knights. Any ideas? I saw two other posts with same question but no replies so just throwing it out there again....

I guess it depends on faction right? I mean - not all factions have 'advanced' cavalry (don't you think feudal knights are advanced enough? you can squash a smaller army on very hard with a few of those units and a GB). For example: Crusader States have more advanced cavalry than some of the Iberian states.

Or you could downgrade to Windows 7. Windows 8 is the new Vista. All your problems solved (if it is a 6.3 thing, which I doubt)

I've never turned RR off, so I have no idea what that does. What faction are you? Can you go into the Building Browser in the Town/City window and see what higher level of stables are supposed to provide you? If it says they are supposed to give you some other cavalry but don't, then something is wrong. Is it possible that BGR IV is turned on? If so, you need a general and he needs to have full recruitment ability (the requirements for that depend on the size of your faction).

As far as I know, stables only increase the sergant pool, and knights pool is tied to the actual castle level. Not sure off the top of my head where the faction specific stuff comes from.

    re O/P - check the export_descr_buildings.txt file

there may be some levels of cavalry recruitment that are tied to specific historic_events, or armourers , or specific factions etc.

In 1320, you'd not expect more than feudal knights anywhere, it was before the large-scale adoption of plate armour.
